The Washer Woman's Daughter by Rebecca Ayers is a young adult paranormal story that brings Celtic myths to life. She's a senior in high school when her mother is murdered. Her mother's murder brings about a secret that Bridget could never have imagined: a magical inheritance straight from a Celtic myth. Now Bridget is swept up into a world of Fairies and Fae people, a world she never knew even existed. But if she can learn to understand her magic, she might have a chance to discover who murdered her mother. Her two best friends help her on this magical journey to discover who she is, what her powers are, and how she can use them to discover the truth and get closure on the changes that were made overnight to her life.

This is a cool story that really highlights the beauty and interesting features of Celtic myths. Any readers that enjoy Irish folk lore or the idea of Fairies and Fae people will love the concepts of this story. The author does a nice job describing the different characters and tying them all together. I especially liked Bridget's relationship with her two best friends and thought that was very realistic. Readers will appreciate how Bridget's friends stand by her and help her in her time of need. Any fan of young adult supernatural stories will enjoy this cleverly written story that pairs friendship and magic with dealing with loss and understanding.
