Brylee Branson is a senior in high school, which is a pretty stressful time for a seventeen-year-old, but her gift of being able to see and talk to the dead, and living in a majorly haunted house really makes high school seem tame. Added to this stress is the fact that her best friend recently died, there are some major issues going on with her parents, and a body-possessing witch wants her dead. Yep, that's the life Brylee faces daily, and the story that unfolds within the pages of The White Door by Christy Sloat will provide plenty of scares, more twists than I could have imagined, and an ending that leaves me anxiously anticipating the next book in The Visitors Series.

The White Door is the third book in the continuing saga of Brylee Branson and the Brown House. Sometimes a series will start to lose momentum after the first couple of books, but that isn't the case with The Visitors Series. Instead, the story line continues to stay fresh, filled with plenty of twists, and more than a few scary scenes that are way beyond creepy, sending chills down my spine. I always enjoy reconnecting with the recurring characters, and find the most interesting aspect of the story to be the growth and change in Brylee. She has become a very self-assured young woman who is very comfortable in her own skin. It's very interesting to see her continue to understand more about her gift, and the fact that she was able to use it to solve a murder was fantastic. Of course, the romance that continues between Brylee and Ephraim adds another interesting layer to the story. A secondary character that really touches me is the library ghost, Angie Harris.

The White Door is geared toward the young adult group but I think it's going to appeal to all ages. I have read each book in the series, and find that the story just keeps getting better and better. Christy Sloat really knows how to write a page-turning read, with in-depth characters and a multi-layered story line that provides plenty of chilling twists, but some poignant scenes as well. On a scale of one to five, I would give this entire series a six, because it's just that good!
