Author Biography

For some reason I wanted to be a computer engineer when I was growing up. Why? Well it seemed a cool thing to do. I became one and then it got boring, so I bounced around different jobs. I started with college, tried the Navy, tried consulting, tried door to door sales, tried working for large corps, tried working for little corps, and am still trying. Through all my various efforts I loved reading fantasy and sci-fi. I have enjoyed playing role playing games on and off since the early 1980s. And now I have added author to the long list of jobs. Author seems a really good fit for my personality, I think I will be doing this for a long time to come. Oh and I'm still a computer engineer, it became fun again.

"Thread Silvers" the first book of the 'Golden Threads Trilogy' tells the story of Ticca, a rising warrior specialist known as a Dagger, and a young mage, Lebuin, who has just been promoted to a higher rank of Journeyman. They cross each other's paths when Lebuin investigates the disappearance of one of the guild’s mage, Magus Vestul. Following an attack by a professional assassin aptly called the Knife, Lebuin’s assistant Ditani hires Ticca for protection. It is not long before they discover a deadly power struggle between two mighty forces.

Chapter one took me into the thrilling mission of Ticca, who was doing a job for her important and well-paid client, Sula. I was truly engaged right away. Leeland Artra definitely knew where to place the suspense elements. The setting is very well-described; the writing is not rushed but patiently developed. The illustration on each chapter is apt. It was something that I was happy to discover as in my case, I don’t often find fantasy novel with enough illustrations in it. Overall, it is a fun and good read. Nevertheless, the author needs to work on how to provide a better ending, or cliffhanger, for a novel that is part of a series. All the characters are interesting and fun to read, especially Ticca and Duke, but some characters should have been given more room to grow. I really hope the second installment will be better, for this is a promising series in the fantasy genre.
