TIP's Magical Journey is an inspirational children’s book written by Barbara Mishkin with illustrations by Jason Shiver. The story follows Thaddeus Isaac Pendleton (TIP), an eight-and-a-half-year-old boy who loves observing and learning about his town and its people on a train ride. On the days he does not have to go to school, TIP boards his local train and sits close to the door to observe the people who get on it. He converses with old and new friends about their occupations, countries of origin, cultures, languages, and religions. TIP meets people from Greece, China, Spain, and many more countries. He appreciates their cuisines and learns about the importance of family, traditions, kindness, and preserving nature. They leave him with profound quotes about life at the end of every conversation. Get a copy of this book and join TIP on his enlightening train ride.
TIP's Magical Journey really surprised me and left me in awe. The book is packed with philosophical and cultural knowledge presented in a way children will understand. I know this is a children's book, but its lessons can also apply to adults. There is something magical and unifying about getting to know and appreciate each other's way of living. Learning about foods from different regions and other countries and their beliefs can help you understand people without prejudice. We can all learn to embrace others from TIP’s welcoming and observant personality. Readers will also be encouraged and motivated by the words TIP receives from the people he meets. I loved this book’s concept because it is unique and memorable. The illustrations make it an amazing read. The art depicts the beautiful town, the passengers boarding the train, their food, and the flags of the various countries mentioned. I enjoyed reading TIP’s experiences and hope to read more books by Barbara Mishkin. Great work.
