A husband and parent to a wonderful wife and four great kids that have inspired me in many ways. In the early 2000, I produced a local newsletter called the "Ottoville Commotion" that highlighted area sports teams and the players on them. My two youngest sons are heavily involved in the martial arts which led to me writing several articles for an area martial arts magazine. I finally took the bull by the horns early in 2014 and decided to pursue my passion for writing and started a fictional children's series call "Brendon & Carson's Ninja Adventures" which focuses on promoting the martial arts and positive benefits that come from it. My daughter and her love for music then took me in another direction and I started another series called "Tori and the Jackstones" which promotes the benefits of music to youth. My hopes are to inspire young readers to take up martial arts and to get involved in music programs. The books do not play down to a child's age but seek to challenge them in hopes that they will go to the dictionary's or read the books with older siblings or parents and create new and lasting bonding memories. Filled with word searches, mazes and more along the way that parents and children together can enjoy and take on.

Tori and The Jackstones: The Great Note Caper (Volume 1) is an interactive adventure story following Paul, Tori, George and Ricky as they try to make it big in the music business, as well as solving a few crimes along the way. They come up against their arch rivals, Half Note and The Trouble Clefs, who try to sabotage the band’s performance. There are also other bands who will cause mischief if they get the chance. But it’s Half Note and the Trouble Clefs who are out to ruin the night and to spoil the music. However, through interactive games there’s a chance to join in the fun and solve a crime at the same time.
The author, Rod P. Stoner, has very cleverly woven in some activities to create an interactive story where puzzles such as word search and a maze really help to bring the story to life. The reader actually becomes a crew member and helps out - from setting up the stage to keeping a look out for the notorious rivals, to finally assisting the police in foiling a crime. In addition to the games, there is some helpful information on music with a music quiz on timing, which taught me a lot of the basics that I didn’t know. So, as well as a fun game and a great read, there’s an opportunity to learn something about music too. This is an ideal story for children who love music and could well appeal to schools to act out the story in a play.
