Two Hearts: Evasion is yet another tale in this wonderful series from acclaimed author Tamara Ferguson. When Celine Broussard’s husband was killed on duty in Afghanistan, her life changed forever. Pregnant at the time, she decided to keep the birth of her child Nathan a secret from everyone, except for a few close friends. Most of all she wanted to hide the child from her late husband’s family who had done everything they could to ensure that Celine received as little of the family’s fortune as possible. A series of “accidents” convinced Celine that her secrecy was the wisest course of action. When she was attracted to a wounded veteran at the Wounded Warrior Home at Crystal Lake, she realized that she must finally be ready to move on with her and her child’s life but one thing keeps nagging at her mind. What was it about John that attracted her so much? Is it simply because he reminded her so deeply of her late husband Alex, or was there more to this than meets the eye?

Tamara Ferguson has found her literary niche and has developed a wonderful series of romance stories in both this series and many others. Two Hearts: Evasion is every bit as enjoyable and interesting as those that have gone before. What I like so much about this author’s work is the uncomplicated writing style, the recurring characters, the wounded heroes, and, of course, the sweet, abiding romances. I particularly appreciate the elevation of these wounded warriors to be the main focus of these novels. They celebrate not just their courage on the field of battle but their ability to rebound, often from the most horrific of injuries, and rediscover life, romance, and ultimately love back in the “real world”. That these tales are all essentially based around the same location and with the same background characters gives the stories a real sense of continuity and place. There is something deeply warming about coming back to the safe, secure world of Ferguson’s romances and I, for one, am a lifelong fan.

Two Hearts: Evasion by Tamara Ferguson tells the story of Celine Broussard, who was widowed when her husband Alex was killed on a mission in Afghanistan. Six years later, after secretly giving birth to their son, she lived out of reach of her late husband’s family. Working as a registered nurse in a nearby town, Celine visited her son Nathan as often as possible while her best friend cared for him. She hoped to spend more time with him and considered finding a job in the same town. During a beach outing with Nathan and her friend, Celine was drawn to a mysterious stranger, John Sawyer. Although he was disfigured, the stranger seemed oddly familiar, and she could not deny the connection she felt.

Accomplished author Tamara Ferguson has given her readers another fantastic book. Ferguson easily winds romance into the mysterious and suspenseful plot as she stretches her characters to the limit but brings them to a happily-ever-after ending. The book could be read as a stand-alone novel, as the related backstory is woven into the threads of dialog and the thoughts of the characters. Readers will be turning pages at a frenzied pace to find out what transpires as they follow John and Celine’s story. The author doesn’t disappoint when it comes to steam. Each electric touch is described with a detail that makes Ferguson worthy of her craft. Two Hearts: Evasion would be a great addition to any mature reader’s bookcase alongside the rest of the books in Ferguson’s Two Hearts Wounded Romance Series.

Two Hearts: Evasion is a work of fiction in the romantic suspense, intrigue, and interpersonal drama subgenres, and is the twentieth novel in the Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance book series. It is best suited to mature adult readers owing to scenes of a sexual nature and references to military violence, disfigurement, and death threats. Penned by author Tamara Ferguson, this new standalone novel in the series keeps us firmly planted in Crystal Rock as we explore the life of Celine Broussard since the tragic loss of her husband. Celine has tried to keep her child and her grief secure and private until she meets the mysterious John, who reminds her so much of Alex that it becomes hard to let him go all over again.

Author Tamara Ferguson is an author who knows exactly what her audience wants and needs from this highly engrossing series, yet somehow she always finds new twists to put on the drama and new angles to explore relationships that deliver exciting new dynamics and heartfelt romantic results. John and Celine have an interesting tension between them right from the off, and this novel sustains a strong mystery plot from cover to cover that has plenty of sudden dangers, clever clue placement, and a long-standing emotional baseline that is about to be shaken up and reignited to the max. Overall, I would highly recommend Evasion for fans of the existing Two Hearts series and the series in general to romance fans looking for some fantastic hurt-comfort-style personal drama penned by an accomplished, experienced writer.
