Victor X is an ordinary guy doing ordinary things in a routine way. He has the unfortunate experience of finding a devastatingly injured Mountain Shepherd dog along his morning cycling route. Despite trying, his attempt fails at enlisting help to aid the injured dog. He feels he must return home, get his car, and rescue the poor animal. He takes the dog to the vet where they perform emergency surgery. He is determined to investigate the ruthless savage perpetrator who had the gall to hurt an animal so cruelly. His investigation leads him down a rabbit hole of lies and deception closer to home than he expected. Be prepared. When you start Victor X by T. H. Riss, you will not stop. It’s that good.

Victor X by T. H. Riss is a brilliant story with a magnificent plot. Filled with suspense and intrigue, it contains some decent plot twists. Riss has done a worthy job of garnering sympathy for the victim in the story, the dog that the protagonist rescues. Riss beautifully characterizes the dog as an intelligent, gentle, and patient soul. Everyone loves this gorgeous dog. The dog owners adore it, children love it, and passersby all adore the dog as well. Despite this, it has a tough life of abuse. The narrative builds more emotions in the reader because of the cruelty shown to the dog. In this way, Riss draws the audience in. Animal lovers will be keen to see that the animal is vindicated and that justice prevails.

This is the best kind of detective story, one that realistically moves the plot along but doesn't give away the ending. I'd call it Sci Fi Lite - since it is set in the very near future in a world we recognize today. The science part of it pertains to how the world grapples with the ethics of incorporating new technology into the world in ways that help and don't harm. As Victor works to solve a mystery, he has to consider many questions about himself, how we support our community, the value of friendship and the power of trust. I think there are more relevant issues that Victor can explore so I hope there will be more Victor X books in the future. It's a tale of today - with a dog!

I like how the cadence of the writing matches the main character. The author makes you look into human nature, and societal changes from good to bad, to deplorable. Have your book club, psych/civic or ethics class read it!

...easily a 10 out of 10! “Victor X” is incredibly well-written and has an amazing story with characters (including a 4-legged one) with whom you become attached. I highly recommend this book to any book lover - you will not be disappointed!

If you love dogs grab some tissue.

Victor X is a creature of habit and after his breakfast and black coffee he likes to go cycling around the neighborhood. On this day he finds a dog with egregious injuries and feels compelled to get the dog to safety. Even after arriving at the clinic and the dog being rushed in to surgery by Dr. Jean now that the dog is safe he wants to know who did this. Victor works at Biotech One of the leaders and technology and during his investigation he will not only fall in love with the injured dog but will find out something about his self that is mine blowing he also meets a single mother that shows Victor some people are more human than others but when he follows all the clues to the answer he seeks it will change his life forever. It isn’t easy writing clean sweep Dudley do right type stories without coming off cheesy but I do believe Mr. wrist has definitely achieved that with Victor X. With technology a mystery and a heartfelt story thrown in this really is a great short read and one I definitely recommend. If I could I would give the book more than five stars and just an FYI if you can read this without falling in love with the rusty barley Callie and Angel do you need serious help. I love the story so much I’m so glad I got to read it and will definitely read more from this author in the future or at least I hope so. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
