Author Biography

My work as a practicing physician has been focused on enhancing human vitality by targeting health at a cellular level. My interest is in combining the best of conventional medicine, with advances in cellular biology to deliver novel approaches to address core issues that corrode health and accelerate aging.

My research is in the tradition of other actively practicing clinicians. It can best be described as observation of the real world outcomes of the treatments that I render. By carefully documenting results, I am able to gather evidence regarding the impact of the treatment approaches that I design.

My 30 year career as a family doctor has enabled me to identify the greatest concerns and objectives of the patients I serve. My intellectual curiosity has helped me to research approaches to help address unsolved problems.

An honors graduate from Tufts University, Dr. Stephen Petteruti continued on to receive his medical degree. "To often in medicine we are left pursuing well worn pathways and if the patient's condition doesn’t comfortable fit into that pathway we feel incapable of helping them. The patients tell us what they need and what they need is to feel better, live longer, and live better. That’s the passion that drives my practice" said Dr. Petteruti.

Focused on Functional Medicine, Dr. Petteruti specializes in family medicine, hormone therapy, weight loss and IV vitamin therapy with chelation and supportive cancer care (high dose vitamin C). He practices in his private practice in Warwick, RI called Intellectual Medicine.

Vitamized Health: Your Pathway to Optimal Health Using IV Vitamins, by Dr. Stephen Petteruti, is an enlightening, compelling guide to improving your health at the cellular level. Brain and heart health give our bodies life and energy, and this doctor shows how to maximize your cell health and keep everything working properly. The advice involves understanding that health starts in the cells. The healthier your cells are, the healthier you are and the better you feel. But our world of medicine operates from the disease model, meaning that you only act when there's a problem like heart disease, cancer, dementia, etc. These take a long time to manifest. Resources and money could be better spent preventing these conditions at the cellular level, and vitamins with a healthy diet and exercise are key components.

We've all heard the phrase "Take your vitamins", and that isn't just a catchphrase. Our brains and bodies need them to have good health. Our body has a way of healing itself, and vitamized health strengthens the body's power to do so. Even common medical issues like gastrointestinal and migraines can benefit from vitamin therapy. What I like is that the book comes from a preventative approach, and the information is based on many years of research and experience. It makes sense that vitamins are the key to optimum health, and the benefits of vitamins are explained very clearly. Besides vitamins, sleep health and oral supplements are discussed. The doctor uses a layman's style of communicating and speaks to you as if you are sitting in his office, even though he makes it clear he isn't giving you personal medical advice. If intravenous vitamins is a new concept to you, but you are intrigued by the idea and want to learn more about it, then Vitamized Health: Your Pathway to Optimal Health Using IV Vitamins by Dr. Stephen Petteruti is a must-read.

Would you consider having regular injections packed full of beneficial vitamins? What if you knew that this would not only make you healthier because the vitamins, not taken orally as is usually done, would go right into the bloodstream, but it would also help you live longer? And, by living longer, I mean living longer with good health, both physical and mental. It’s been proven and researched that good health begins with the basic cells in the human body. Healthy cells resist and fight infections, keep the blood flowing smoothly, make the human brain function efficiently, and give the human more energy to enjoy life to its fullest. Whilst medicine has long been influencing the general population toward vaccinations and medication to counter ill effects that affect us all, there really is an alternate way, one that might work better for you, to eradicate the stigma that the treatment is usually worse than the disease.

Dr. Stephen Petteruti’s book, Vitamized Health: Your Pathway to Optimal Health using IV Vitamin Therapy, is a thorough guide to help you understand your body better and to consider and understand the benefits of alternate treatments. A medical professional, the author carefully leads readers through the current beliefs in western medicine and then introduces another approach, one that involves intravenous vitamin and supplement infusions. He explains the benefits of vitamins, which many of us already know, but he also discusses the added benefits of injecting these vitamins and supplements right into the body. The book is well organized, discussing some basic clinical conditions that many people face daily, such as migraines and heart disease; his writing is easy for the layman to comprehend and follow. A must-read for those who want to live longer, healthier lives.

Vitamized Health: Your Pathway to Optimal Health Using IV Vitamins by Dr. Stephen Petteruti is an educational guide that aids readers in better understanding vitamin drip therapy. For those unaware, vitamin drip therapy is the administering of high dose vitamins intravenously, which is to say it skips the metabolization process that oral vitamins require and enters straight into the bloodstream. In this book, Dr. Petteruti digs deeper to provide scientific data that supports reviving cellular vitality by way of direct vitamin infusion. This is done in four parts that are incredibly comprehensive and include, but are not even nearly limited to, the complete lack of preventative medicine in the West, compliance, risks, side effects, misconceptions, safety, physiological and mental health benefits by deficiency and concern, cellular repair and testimonials.

The first time I had heard of vitamin drip therapy was while watching a television show where the wife of a hedge-fund billionaire rolls IV trolleys through the building, infusing dehydrated and lackluster brokers after a weekend of debauchery with an infusion of pure magic. I've been a bit obsessed ever since, particularly as someone who suffers from chronically low D3, B12, and hydration in general. There are arguments on both sides of the aisle for and against IV vitamins, but Dr. Stephen Petteruti makes a compelling argument in favor of them in Vitamized Health. I was most impressed by the chapter that specifically addresses Fibromyalgia, a disorder with no cure, no known reason for onset, and no genuine treatment aside from pain killers. These are the micronutrient infusions that most intrigue me, and with Dr. Petteruti writing that the average time for perceived impact from the therapy is usually in as few as three weeks, that's a tough treatment to ignore. I think this book is a great first step for anyone looking to learn more.

Vitamized Health: Your Pathway to Optimal Health Using IV Vitamins is a work of non-fiction in the health and medical subgenres. It is suitable for the general reading audience and was penned by Dr. Stephen Petteruti. The book aims to challenge the common western culture of waiting for a disease to take hold before treating it and instead proposes a more proactive approach using IV vitamin infusions to reduce the risk of disease and promote internal health. By supplementing the diet and exercise approach to wellness this way, the book aims to help people reinforce and build upon their body’s natural ability to heal itself.

This book makes a bold pitch about healthcare that will be of interest to any readers with concerns about their health. More than that, it takes what seems a counterintuitive idea and presents it so clearly and so accessibly that by the time I was done, I felt quite foolish for the ideas I had going into it. Most importantly in a book of this type, there is a focus on practical information presented in an organized manner, a focus that comes from Dr. Stephen Petteruti’s extensive experience of practicing medicine. The author’s extensive expertise and research are utilized fully in order to present the case for vitamized health as well as give layman readers an understanding of how this exciting new way of thinking about health can be used to help fight disease and ensure vitality. Vitamized Health is a book I recommend for those who wish to explore the health and lifestyle options beyond what western medicine presents.

In Vitamized Health by Dr. Stephen Petteruti, the author states: “Your job is to maintain your health.” Medical doctors learn about disease intervention and management. Disease prevention and health preservation is the right and responsibility of the individual. He refers to “arrogance of the moment” as the fact that we tend to believe our current knowledge is complete. He uses an effective analogy of trees blown down in a violent storm. On investigation, it is found that most of the fallen trees were dead inside. The trees had degraded at a cellular level. In the human body, we can avoid similar cell degradation and infirmity often associated with aging by applying the principles of cellular-based health support. Dr. Petteruti outlines the history of intravenous infusions. He explains the requirements for effective absorption of vitamins and nutrients, and the reasoning supporting infusions. He discusses the role of nutritional infusions. These are effective in anti-aging, chemotherapy, sports, trauma, surgery, gastrointestinal health, headaches, mental health, and more. He advises on sleep hygiene and the importance of restorative sleep for cellular health.

Vitaminized Health is a book I know I will refer to again and again. It is well laid out, easy to read, and hugely informative. Dr. Petteruti includes the specific nutrients required for different conditions. It is the patient’s clinical response that determines dose adequacy. He challenges the acceptance of brain decay and physical deterioration as being a natural consequence of aging. It is not possible to know if our preventative actions are effective. Perhaps we were not at risk. Such is the nature of prevention. Our personal philosophy will direct our actions, depending on the best available information. Mental acuity, physical strength, and energetic vitality define the state of robust health to which we aspire. Energy, like health itself, begins at a cellular level. I recommend everyone read Dr. Petteruti's book to challenge our paradigms.
