Whisper Angel is the story of the Angel of Hope and how, with the help of the Archangel Michael, Gabriel, Uriel, and Raphaela, she manages to reach her potential as a helping angel. The only thing that Hope wishes to achieve is helping others in need. At the beginning of the story, Angel Hope is still too young to know what her job is. She knew she had been born out of thoughts of love, joy, and peace but had no idea as to what was expected of her and how she could help people. This story is accompanied by the incredible illustrations created by Sandra Betancort. Throughout the story, Hope’s true nature is revealed; she is a selfless creature whose life passion and objective are to help people have a better life.

Even though Whisper Angel is a short story, it is a powerful one. Its message is clear; there is always someone or something looking out for us, we are not alone in this. Hope can be found even in the most unexpected of places. Complementary to the story, the illustrations had me enraptured; they bring the story to life in so many ways. They provide so much peace while reading, they are perfect for this particular story! Many people persevere through dire situations because they keep their hope alive and know that help is on its way; it is an unconscious motivation that helps us continue and solve things, even to help ourselves. “Always remember that truth protects us, and love sustains us” is a great lesson that I took away from this story.

Whisper Angel by Ayn Cates Sullivan is a beautifully written and illustrated story about a little Angel trying to find out how she can help people. She decides the best way to find this out is by speaking with some of the well-known Archangels. Her conversations with them will eventually lead her to the discovery of her own purpose. In this adventure, we travel with our little protagonist to see and experience these Higher Angels in their work of service. The distinct personality and unique capacity of each Angel to provide service are presented in such a way that we just know at some time in our life, when we needed one of these Angels and the uplifting gift the Angel possessed, that Angel was right there beside us and helping us.

Ayn Cates Sullivan's Whisper Angel is illustrated by Sandra Betacourt. What a comforting, surreal, and rich job this artist has done. She uses wonderful kaleidoscope-type images and images featuring transparent orbs and ones that remind us of stained-glass windows. The image and environment of each Archangel are drawn in a way that we feel ourselves moving from the heavenly domain of one Angel into that of the next one. There is a sense of traveling from one celestial stop to the next. Moreover, at the end of all the visits, our little Angel receives the perfect truth that allows her to go forward and bless people while finding the joy and happiness she sought. I enjoy stories like this that feature the Archangels in such heavenly and informative ways. If you love engaging and inviting stories about Angels, then you’ll not want to miss reading Whisper Angel. Thank you, Ayn and Sandra, for such a magical and enchanting adventure.

Whisper Angel, written by Ayn Cates Sullivan and illustrated by Sandra Betacourt, is a children's spiritual storybook about an angel who is about to find her destiny. The book begins with an introduction to the main character, a very young angel who has the responsibility of providing dream guidance in a human world where comfort and peace are hard to find. The angel wishes to do so much more but is told by other more senior angels that she is not ready yet and to be patient. Years later when the Archangel Gabriel determines she is ready, he gives her the name of Hope and she starts on a journey of her own, although she isn't entirely certain what it is she is meant to do.

Ayn Cates Sullivan has written a piece of children's literature that digs a bit deeper than many books in the same genre with Whisper Angel. Introductions to the four senior “Archangels” are made but as they play their role in Hope's journey they are re-introduced, making it comfortable for very young readers to follow. Sandra Betacourt illustrates the book in gorgeous jewel-toned pastels and incorporates a splendid glow to each page featuring an angel that feels like it may extend right off the page. There were some questions about Nadine, who is the first person to call on Hope, and why some individuals are chosen for physical healing whereas others are provided spiritual comfort but not physical healing. This was a great question and the next morning my youngest daughter was excited to look online to hunt down an answer. Sullivan provokes thought and Betacourt brings it to life...such a great combination.
