A Morning Walk with God by Marlene L Burling offers short, encouraging devotionals with thought-inspiring teachings and messages that remind us of God’s constant love throughout the day. Burling encourages us to seek God’s counsel and place our hope in Him during the bleak seasons of our lives. She conveys lessons derived from everyday experiences about depending on God, trusting Him, and finding our rest in Him. She compares physical darkness to spiritual darkness and the metamorphosis of a butterfly to the spiritual transformation we go through each day as God transforms us to become more like Christ. Through engaging anecdotes and eye-catching imagery, Burling shares the redeeming messages of the Bible, reminding us of the hope we have that is founded in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

A Morning Walk with God by Marlene L Burling is a collection of 365 devotions with practical wisdom for daily living. This is a wonderful work that helps us focus on the unchanging and uplifting hope we have in God. With a masterful hand, Burling shows how events in our daily lives can point us to deeper scriptural messages and remind us of God’s unfailing character. I loved that the devotionals were brief yet in-depth. I loved the reflection questions included that led me to think of the daily actions I can take to strengthen my faith and which reminded me of God’s promises that I can claim each day. The metaphors and anecdotes included helped me better grasp and apply the scriptural teachings discussed. Highly recommended for believers looking for hopeful and empowering words to help them grow in their faith each day.

Marlene L Burling turned her mini devotionals on a social media platform into a book she titled A Morning Walk with God. Meant to begin a reader's day, the lessons focus on encouragement, gratitude, strength, joy, and God's promises as Burling wades through the challenges of the first year without her late husband. Often, she ponders lessons she learned during her marriage and applies scripture to her experiences. The author's chosen scriptures provide advice on hardship, salvation, and recognizing blessings. Burling ends each entry with questions for you to consider as you begin your daily conversation with the Lord, and she reminds readers that humans may change, but God remains constant.

Reading Marlene L Burling's words is a wonderful way to begin your day! I have a running conversation with God, so Burling's morning questions help me begin my daily conversation with Him. They seem like the same questions - and they are - but your answers to them, after you read the author's mini devotionals and grow each day, change your conversation with the Lord as you move through the year. If you journal them, it's a gift to reflect on your feelings throughout that time and look back on your spiritual growth. I lost my mother last year, and I could truly relate to some of the heartfelt devotions detailing the author's grief. Burling has been active in her service to God, so you can be sure her devotions come from a woman who has taught Sunday school, been active in biblical studies at church, and organized religious events. A Morning Walk with God is an inspiring selection for Christians, but especially readers who have lost a treasured family member.

A Morning Walk with God is a work of non-fiction in the religious, spiritual, and devotional writing subgenres. Suitable for the general adult reading audience, it was penned by author Marlene L Burling with relatable anecdotes and practical examples. Each daily reading offers encouragement and spiritual insights. A great many topics from daily life are covered, from joyful moments to more complex and introspective musings. Burling incorporates metaphors, sermonettes from Biblical characters, and a touch of humor, creating a well-rounded devotional experience that gives readers something different to connect and develop their faith with every day of the year.

Author Marlene L Burling writes in a compelling, easy manner that makes it feel like you’re taking a daily stroll with a wise and compassionate friend. Burling's writing style is accessible to all in both its warmth and its deceptively simple language, making complex spiritual concepts easy to grasp and allowing plenty of space to reflect on the bigger picture. The inclusion of daily scripture adds a sense of connection and spirituality to each reflection, reinforcing the connection between daily life and biblical teachings. I also really enjoyed the structure of having three questions at the end of each devotional to encourage introspection, fostering a deeper understanding of one's faith journey. Burling's blend of personal stories, scripture, and reflection questions creates a thoughtful and uplifting devotional that resonates with readers on their individual walks with God. Overall, A Morning Walk with God is a valuable companion for anyone seeking daily spiritual nourishment, and I would certainly recommend it to those who need it.

After the passing of her husband in 2013, Marlene L. Burling, a former pastor's wife with 35 years of active church involvement, transitioned to a new path. Encouraged by friends and family, she began writing daily devotionals on Facebook, which eventually evolved into this book, A Morning Walk with God. Rooted in daily spiritual lessons, this Christian daily devotional draws from her experiences, offering readers a blend of metaphors, anecdotes, Biblical sermonettes, and tasteful humor. The collection is dated chronologically, so readers will start on the date they begin and not from the beginning. The short daily readings provide reassurance of God's unwavering love and support. Burling expresses gratitude for the support she received and hopes her writings, emphasizing a fulfilling life through God's love, bring blessings to readers.

I really like the simplicity of A Morning Walk with God, and I think that Marlene L. Burling does an excellent job of keeping the day's message concise and to the point so a reader might reach straight to the heart of the matter. I think it is easy to forget that setting aside time to focus solely on God does not mean that it has to take huge swaths of time. Burling shows that quality by far outshines quantity, and the daily devotion itself usually took me less than five minutes, and I was able to ruminate on her questions throughout the day. For example, on August 1st, Firmly Fixed and Growing succinctly reflects on her fascination with caverns and the marvel of stalactites and stalagmites, then applies it spiritually. The foundational verse, 1 Corinthians 3:11, is quoted, leaving us with three questions to take with us. The book is well structured, well written, and a pitch-perfect devotional. Very highly recommended.
