A New Dawn is a work of fiction by author Reginald Andah in the science fiction, adventure, and interpersonal drama genres. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience. The story follows Xander Williams, a soldier-in-training emerging from cryostasis into a world devastated by a prolonged war. Earth is now a battleground, forcing survivors to seek refuge aboard spacefaring vessels. Amidst this chaos, Xander grapples with fragmented memories and discovers a new reality fraught with peril. Encountering vile beings intent on humanity's destruction, Xander finds solace and strength in his bond with Leona. However, as memories resurface and the truth behind the war emerges, Xander realizes that not everything (or everyone) is as it seems.

Author Reginald Andah crafts an immersive journey into a dystopian future where humanity's resilience is put to the ultimate test. I loved the construction and description of a world on the brink of collapse, vividly depicting the stark contrast between the remnants of civilization and the desolation of war with authentic details and strong internal logic. Xander's struggle to reconcile his past with the harsh present is told with strong and close narration that gently uncovers themes of identity and survival in the face of adversity. There’s a naturalistic slant to the character presentation that’s also mirrored in the dialogue, which is smoothly penned and moves the plot on at a great pace. The dynamic between Xander and Leona also added new emotive depth, serving as a beacon of hope amidst the darkness. As the layers of mystery unfolded, I was captivated by the intricate plot twists and moral dilemmas faced by the characters that were delivered with confidence and a great sense of timing. Overall, A New Dawn is a highly recommended read for fans of compelling science fiction, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
