Marcel is an orphaned Catholic boy who has learned to earn his way from living on the rough streets of Dieppe. When his late father's associate makes him an unusual proposition that involves sullying the reputation of a famous French military officer, he refuses to be drawn into the growing religious friction in the country. Marcel instead chooses to help this brave Huguenot and his persecuted comrades find a haven for themselves in the New World. Little does he know that his noble decision will lead him into the adventure of a lifetime in Jared Acuna’s All Battles End At Sunset.

A young orphan embarks on an adventure that will mold him into the man he yearns to become in Jared Acuna's All Battles End At Sunset. Acuna's story takes its inspiration from the Huguenot exodus from France during the Protestant Reformation. The author does a commendable job of staying as close to the facts of that period as possible. His characters have interesting origin stories that augment the authenticity of this novel, giving the reader an array of viewpoints that one can identify with as the novel progresses. Marcel's relationship with Tristan evolves in a mature and relatable manner as the story develops. Acuna integrates the deep conversations between the boys and their different hosts into his subplots, which have diverse topics ranging from international conspiracies to blossoming romance, to create an immersive atmosphere that keeps the reader focused on this riveting read. All Battles End At Sunset is the kind of story that creatively fills the grey area between fact and fiction in a manner that appeals to all readers.
