What should have been a beautiful day celebrating their anniversary turns into chaos in Alpha and Omega: Awakening by Peter J. D. Woodruff. Xavier and Melissa find themselves on the run with other survivors in what looks like the end of the world but there seems to be more than just chaos and destruction happening. It seems Xavier might have a role in all of this but will he aid in the destruction of the world or be a saviour?

Alpha and Omega: Awakening by Peter J. D. Woodruff is a thrilling and epic fantasy novel that satisfies on all counts. The story is action-packed and has many secrets that unravel through each chapter and the characters are charismatic and relatable. Despite the ominous setting, I found myself chuckling at the things the characters said or did, particularly Melissa. I absolutely love a character that is witty and that can crack a joke in tense situations and there was definitely no shortage of that here. It made me feel that if I were ever to find myself in the same situation, I would want people like them around. The pacing of the story was really well done and Woodruff found a good balance between setting descriptive scenes without lagging in the progression of the plot. Overall, Alpha and Omega did a great job of bringing a fresh perspective to the end-of-the-world trope and I really enjoyed the twists Woodruff threw into the mix. This is definitely a book worth reading.
