Love and betrayal can be found in Her Dark Love by Isra Sravenheart. Isra always seemed to have an innate talent for magic and a connection with nature, so it was only natural that she attended the Wingdom's Academy to embrace the art of magic. At the academy, she meets Everilda, whom she quickly befriends. But, unfortunately, the friendship is not meant to last as both girls become entangled with the handsome Jonathan. Now it is up to Astrid to ensure Isra doesn’t fall off the right path and embrace the darkness.

Her Dark Love by Isra Sravenheart is precisely what you would expect from a dark fantasy. There is love, betrayal, magic, and, let’s not forget, the prophecy that spells out the end for all things good in the world. As sad as I was to see Isra have to endure the heartache and hurt of not only losing her first love but a good friend as well, I thoroughly enjoyed the reverse of the dark-to-light plot line. We witness a villain in the making and truly see what makes Isra turn to darkness. The world-building and pacing of the story are well done, allowing you to become immersed in the story and empathize with the characters. I enjoyed it and would love to discover the rest of this series; Sravenheart is an author worth noticing.

Isra was born a witch but needed help to harness the full extent of her powers. On her way to resume studies at a magic school, she met another witch named Everilda. Isra was naïve, sweet, and kind, whereas Everilda was mean, dark-hearted, wild, and vindictive. The two girls became friends, but Everilda took every opportunity to demean Isra. Trouble started when Jonathan, who was secretly involved with Everilda, developed an attraction to Isra. When Isra discovered Everilda’s duplicity and plans, she toyed with moving over to the dark side. The light bringers sent Astrid, the raven, and James to monitor her. However, what began as disdain between Astrid and James soon became a rivalry. Can Astrid keep Isra on the path of light? Will Everilda and Isra’s war ever end? Find out in Her Dark Love by Isra Sravenheart.

Her Dark Love by Isra Sravenheart is the first book in the Dark Spell Series. It will appeal to lovers of stories based on magic and paranormal beings. Its themes include mystery, magic, fantasy, love, betrayal, deceit and vengeance. I loved the storyline and its multiple facets. The development was also excellent, and the characters were authentic. Everilda and Isra’s relationship is relatable even in today’s world, where jealousy, covetousness, deceit, and betrayal are the order of the day. Unfortunately, the pain created by such acts has damaged people who may hurt others. Astrid was one of my favorite characters, being both funny and exasperating. The back and forth with Samuel made me laugh, and I can’t wait to see how it all ends for Isra. A beautiful book.
