Author Marietta Williams has taken the story of Jesus Christ's birth in Bethlehem and has written a delightful story of those times. Eight year old Andrew lives with his father Jonathan and his mother Salome in their inn which is on the outskirts of the little town of Bethlehem. Andrew is saved from being run down by Roman troops and horses by a man whom Andrew calls God. He is not God but Joseph who seeks refuge with his wife Mary away from Nazareth where her pregnancy will be questioned. There is no room in any inn, including Jonathan's, so Joseph and Mary are given a place to stay in Jonathan's stable with Andrew's pets, Sheba the lamb and Levi the ox. The singing of what must be angels is heard on nearby hills and three men of substance, Gaspar, Prince Melchoir, and Balthazar feel something that draws them to Judea. And as the world knows, in that small town of Bethlehem in that stable was born to Mary and Joseph a baby named Jesus who would change our world.

"Andrew's Gift" is a readable, delightful story of the birth of Jesus Christ long ago in Bethlehem. In this story, Mary slowly turns from a lovely teenage girl into the Blessed Mother and Joseph befriends Andrew whose own father, Jonathan, neglects him in favor of working at his inn and Joseph even teaches the young boy how to carve. Author Marietta Williams has taken the story of Jesus' birth and expanded it into a story that readers will love. Baby Jesus is portrayed as he should have been, quite capable of healing and bringing miracles even at the tender age of merely some months old. The editing and formatting are excellent and readers everywhere will enjoy every page of "Andrew's Gift".
