Author Biography

My name is Fia Essen. I’ve been an expat since childhood. I grew up in the stables of the Middle East and Southeast Asia, surrounded by horses, philandering polo players, and the occasional Boa Constrictor. Currently, I live in Athens, Greece with my Yorkshire Terrier and my parents.

If I wasn't on horseback, I had my nose in a Chick Lit novel throughout my teens and twenties. I'm now in my thirties and these days I write Chick Lit with an international twist. I've also written a non-fiction book called "Self-Help Made Simple".

When I'm not working on my next novel, I'm the Company Administrator at Essen & Essen, which is a family owned boutique consultancy that specializes in supporting Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs. We help them stay ahead of the game.

I also function as a "Change Agent" for our clients at Essen & Essen. Change is my forte. Growing up as an expat taught me to embrace change as something exciting and natural in life. That makes me the right person to help guide others through major transitions, upheavals, and both planned and unexpected changes.

In Anna by author Fia Essen, we're taken on fun romp through Crete with our protagonist, the titular Anna. Going through major changes in her life, dumped by her boyfriend, having just lost her job, she decides on a whim to go to Greece. She needs time for herself, time to regroup, and time to start over. The last thing she's looking for is a relationship, but when she meets a handsome man who has other ideas in mind, Miss Type A personality Anna might just have to change her typically well-planned out life to get what she really wants, not just what she thought she did.

Anna is a really fun read. I enjoyed it a great deal from the beginning through to the end. The perfect book for a read on a nice summer's day or on the beach, this book will hook you from the start and will keep you reading until the end. Author Fia Essen has a gift in creating characters that readers will truly come to care about. In turns funny, heart warming and heart breaking, Anna is a book that will appeal to any reader that loves romance, chick lit or just an enjoyable read. This is the first book that I've read by Fia Essen, but it certainly will not be the last. I recommend Anna and I certainly hope that author Fia Essen is hard at work on her next work in this vein.
