Eric Leidheldt and his fiancée Desiree Chauveau's romantic getaway to a remote cabin in Southern California turns into a nightmare when they find themselves at the mercy of two nefarious woodcutters. After being attacked by one of them, Eric wakes up to find himself tied up and locked inside the trunk of a car. Desi is severely injured yet somehow manages to free him. But Desi is not okay, and all evidence points to a heinous assault on her. To Eric's shock, two police officers visit them the next day, and Desi is arrested on murder charges for brutally killing her assailants with an axe. She is also showing signs of PTSD, and her relationship with Eric becomes complicated. Will Desi find justice? Grab a copy of Linda Griffin's The Axe to find out.

Soaked in suspense, mystery, and intrigue, The Axe is a gripping novella that keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. Author Linda Griffin's absorbing narrative packs quite a punch within a short number of pages. There is not a single wasted word in this tale. With a tight and unpredictable plot and two compelling main characters, Griffin ensures readers are thoroughly hooked. You will find yourself immersed in the setting from the get-go. Griffin infuses a sense of tension and dread into the narrative in a way that makes you want to know what's going to happen next. The aftermath of the assault on Desi and its impact on her relationship with Eric was heartbreaking yet felt very realistic. I finished the book in one sitting and feel other readers will do the same. Highly recommended to fans of fast-paced thrillers.
