Bound by Lies is the story of two lost souls, Kitten and Caden, bound together by a shared love of kink. Theirs is a rather unusual relationship we learn early on as Caden sends letters alerting Kitten to their next steamy, if somewhat one-sided, encounter. Kitten is on the run from a dangerous past so this type of relationship is perfect for her, yet she longs for more from the one man who cannot provide it. Hanna Peach paints the story of these two tortured individuals with seamless effort. Whereas one might normally be put off by their relationship and the type of intimacies shared, Peach weaves the story in a way that you don’t judge the characters but simply follow them on this strange journey.
Hanna Peach does a fantastic job of taking two different stories and weaving them into one suspense and sex-filled tale. We know pretty early on that Kitten isn’t her real name, nor is the other fake name she goes by at her day job and we know she’s in danger, but we don’t know why. The mystery of her past is what keeps Bound by Lies from being a traditional erotic tale. The sex gave us the time necessary for a bond to form between Caden and Kitten, but everything else gets us to the heart of this dark but intriguing tale. Unfortunately there is no actual end to this story so if you’re eager to find out if Kitten and Caden get their happy ending you’ll have to wait for the next book in the series.
