Fairies, Sorcery, and the Greek Gods by Donald R. Richter is a tale where ordinary life and mystical events intertwine. Andre and Jack navigate a world teeming with both human and mythical characters. Jack is empowered by divine abilities and Andre's pragmatism counterbalances the narrative's supernatural elements as the two embark on an adventure that sees them dealing with mundane tasks and engaging in paranormal exploits. As they traverse locations from comfortable Key Largo to international hubs, they face a barrage of challenges like rescuing Sheila in Mexico and freeing fairies from their captors. Significant to their journey is Jack's power transformation, their alliance with revived figures like Zeus and Merlin, and their battle against the enslaving Blue Fairy.

Donald R. Richter has created a different kind of world in Fairies, Sorcery, and the Greek Gods where the majestic enjoy a meal at KFC and take taxi cabs, which is one of many unique angles employed in the style of storytelling. It's pretty easy for a reader to find their way around the characters even if they have not been introduced to other works. I know very little about gods like Poseidon and was still amused by Medusa's plan to get him drunk and cast out Calypso, who was absolutely in love with her. These nods to an alternative retelling of myths are creative and it's evident that Richter has a vivid imagination, particularly with the fantasy elements woven throughout. it will appeal to many readers who are fans of fantasy and Greek mythology.
