Finding Euphoria is a chilling work of thriller fiction in the drugs and medical drama genre, penned by author C. Becker. Written for adults due to its dark themes and occasional graphic content, the story follows married couple Mark and Hailey Langley. Hailey has plenty of trauma in her past, but in her new marriage, she hopes for better. Meanwhile, Mark works for the Drug Trafficking Agency and lets work rule his life. So when the deadly new drug Euphoria comes on the scene and threatens to blow a hole in all of their lives, leaving their marriage hanging in the balance, the pair must get their priorities straight and work together to save everything they’ve built.
The sweeping multi-perspective narration style of this novel is well worth getting into and sticking with, as all the pieces come together to deliver a really well-rounded crime, thriller and mystery tale by its startling conclusion. Author C. Becker does a great job in character development, giving huge empathy to Hailey in her terrifying past and for the deeply frustrated Mark as he struggles with his work/life balance. Equal parts tense thriller and moving relationship drama, the atmospheric shifts in the plot are well paced and well described, giving readers some clean scene breaks that felt like a truly cinematic reading experience. Overall, I would highly recommend Finding Euphoria to fans of many different genres including gritty crime, cozy mystery and women’s fiction. There is something for everyone within these very well-written pages.
