Finding Home by BH Wertz is the story of Sparkle, Jerko, and Ferdie, three sewer rats who move in with their cousin following their father’s death. Everything continues to go well for the rats until one day they discover that their supply of food for the winter has been stolen. With barely any food left for their host, the rats decide to leave the house. They are eventually forced to accept the invitation of Milton, a wicked mole who makes them work hard and mistreats them regularly. Their misfortune continues until one day the mischievous Ferdie comes across a secret path that leads to further revelations. Will Ferdie’s discovery put an end to their plight?

BH Wertz’s Finding Home is a short and delightful children’s story. I love the character of Ferdie; his mischievous nature only makes him more adorable. I also like how Ferdie is always ready to enjoy life, no matter how difficult it gets for him. The bond between the siblings is also quite remarkable and the way they stick together till the end is simply amazing. I feel that their cousin deserves special praise for the kindness he shows them throughout the story. What I love the most about him is the way he refuses to give up on them despite knowing that he is in danger himself. The story develops in a linear way, which makes it suitable for young readers. I would recommend it to children aged six to eight.
