"Glass Angel With Skillet" takes place from 1906 to 1968. Thirty-two year old Dolly Leggett, a single mother with 3 children, is determined to start her own restaurant to support herself and her children. When Dolly opens the doors to Dolly’s Cafe in July 1906, her first customer is Ernest, the bachelor barber. She doesn’t know that he is also her landlord. Over the course of the next seven years, through the growth of the business and problems with the children, a relationship is also budding between Ernest and Dolly.

With eventual marriage, Dolly learns there is more to this man then just being the barber at the corner business. Small in stature, Ernest is shy and sensitive, while Dolly is outgoing and has quite a temper. Both have a past that they need to let go of to bring out the best in their marriage. The reader follows this family through five different towns, children and grandchildren growing up, and a somewhat comical relationship.

This is an enjoyable read with some occasional coarse language throughout. It was interesting to follow this family over the course of 62 years. An excellent book and I recommend it.
