Goodnight, Crayons is written by Melanie Tucker and illustrated by Ruwini Liyanage. The crayons in this picture book say their good nights and discuss the things they have colored through the day. So many colors and so many pictures to turn into colorful dreams on each and every page. With beautiful blues, greens, greys, and reds, there’s no end to the beauty each color will add to the story. From pumpkins, dolphins, firetrucks, and apples to basketballs, bananas, and ducks, there is no limit to the beautiful pictures these sleepy crayons can imagine. What did each crayon color before getting ready to go to bed? Will they wake up wanting to make more beautiful pictures? What would crayons have to say about their day if they could talk?

Goodnight, Crayons is an adorable picture book that will entertain kids with the idea of what crayons might think about each night when they lie down to go to sleep. I love how each crayon says good night and then thinks about the pictures they colored throughout the day. It was a lot of fun to read this story by Melanie Tucker as she captivates the imaginations of children and leads them through a path of pictures that are familiar to them. The illustrations are beautiful and match the storylines and will encourage kids to read more. I recommend Goodnight, Crayons to children who are in the early years of learning how to read, and I look forward to seeing more work like this from this talented children’s author.
