Leaven puts a hilarious spin on everything by countering and grounding these idealistic and aspirational ideas with comments about the grind of many people’s reality. He paints a more realistic picture of life's disappointments and pitfalls. Somehow, he makes everyday, mundane activities appear more appealing and stimulating than the lofty values often quoted in mainstream media. Though funny and entertaining, and whether intentional or not, Leaven presents a critical underlying message about reality and idealism, leaving a profound impression on the reader.
