Kids Write a Book by Ray Ronan with Finn and Jake Ronan is a whimsical yet practical motivational guide for young people interested in writing a book and for parents who want to help them. With the help of a wise wizard named Adus and his owl companion Noctua, Ray Ronan guides would-be young authors through a systematic six-step process sure to produce top-notch results, as evidenced by the fine work of Ronan’s sons, Finn and Jake, featured in the tutorials. Because the tutorial sections of the text are set up as a dialogue between Ronan and Adus, they are engaging and informative in ways that young readers can easily relate to and with lasting effect. Ray Ronan works positive reinforcement and encouragement into every Kids Write a Book page. His passion for encouraging young writers is both commendable and infectious.

To label Kids Write a Book as merely a support system for young authors would be to do it a terrible disservice. Along with excellent (and practical) guidance for creating their books, kids and parents will find concise and easy-to-follow advice for preparing finished manuscripts, negotiating the proof process, and publishing their final creations in physical and electronic formats. Ray Ronan leaves no stone unturned in his efforts to offer comprehensive support for young writers – there is even a section devoted to locating and engaging first-rate illustrators! Kids Write a Book provides complete support for young authors with ongoing opportunities in the form of additional online training and resources and an opportunity for young writers to share their products directly with Ray, Finn, and Jake. Kids Write a Book will keep giving and educating long after young would-be authors and their parents turn the last page.
