Award-winning author, Robert Thornhill, began writing at the age of sixty-six and in five short years has penned twenty novels in the Lady Justice mystery/comedy series, the seven volume Rainbow Road series of chapter books for children, a cookbook and a mini-autobiography.
Lady Justice and the Sting, Lady Justice and Dr. Death, Lady Justice and the Vigilante, Lady Justice and the Candidate, Lady Justice and the Book Club Murders, Lady Justice and the Cruise Ship Murders, Lady Justice and the Vet and Lady Justice and the Pharaoh’s Curse won the Pinnacle Award for the best new mystery novels of Fall 2011, Winter 2012, Summer 2012, Fall 2012, Spring of 2013, Summer of 2013, Spring of 2014 and Fall of 2014 from the National Association of Book Entrepreneurs.
Many of Walt’s adventures in the Lady Justice series are anecdotal and based on Robert’s real life.
Although Robert holds a master’s in psychology, he has never taken a course in writing and has never learned to type. All 31 of his published books were typed with one finger and a thumb!
His wit and insight come from his varied occupations, including thirty-three years as a real estate broker. He lives with his wife, Peg, in Independence, Missouri.

Lady Justice and the Broken Hearts by Robert Thornhill is the latest episode featuring Walt Williams and his gang of renown in Thornhill’s “Lady Justice” mystery/comedy series. Not surprisingly, it is another winning combination of humor and drama, in which our inimitable hero prevails in his ongoing fight ‘for truth, justice and the American way’, if I may borrow a quote from the old Superman television series. In this episode, Thornhill shares with readers a chapter from his own life, making the story a richly poignant one. As always, Walt Williams tackles several issues ripped from today’s headlines, demonstrating the intuitive logic and critical thinking skills that helped make America great. One cannot read these stories without rooting for Walt in all his exploits.
Lady Justice and the Broken Hearts is in a class by itself. This is a story I sincerely believe most people will enjoy reading, regardless of their usual genre preferences. The manner in which Thornhill juxtaposes reality into his fiction is fresh and authentic, blurring the line of distinction between ‘real’ and ‘made up’. The result is a story one can willingly accept as having really taken place as described. Walt, although a fictional creation, is based on a composite of the real-life heroes who stand between John Q. Public and evil intentions all across our land. I believe that is why all Thornhill’s “Lady Justice” stories are so captivating. Lady Justice and the Broken Hearts is suitable for all ages. If you’ve got a reluctant reader you are trying to cure, this book would be an exceptional choice for that purpose. But readers of all ages and interests will enjoy it, too.
