Noel—to be born—is a name associated with the birth of Jesus, the true meaning behind Christmas. Charlie doesn’t understand the connection. The person, whose name is Noel, is a homeless woman he thinks poorly of. That is until one day, she interferes to save Charlie’s son’s life. And the connection grows from there. Charlie, who has everything—a good job, a good home, a good wife and family—doesn’t have the Christmas spirit; he can’t see anything for its inner beauty and purpose. Richard W. Kelly’s Noel Not an Angel: A Christmas Novella is the story of how Noel provides Charlie with a new perspective on life.

Richard W. Kelly’s Noel Not an Angel is a heartwarming story that will bring tears to readers' eyes. The plot introduces the main character, Charlie, and his family, depicting him like George Bailey and Ebenezer Scrooge, shallow characters, empty shells of life. The author carefully narrates his story, allowing the readers to pass judgment, to accept or reject the concept of what it means to experience the fullness of life, as seen through his main character, Charlie. The characters are well-developed and believable; dialogue is sparing but effective, and scenes are well described. Like the classics of old, this story presents a most important message: to value what is important in life and look deeply into the beauty surrounding us. Brilliant, poignant, and beautiful.
