Not Me! Speluncaphobia, Secrets and Hidden Treasures is a work of fiction in the mystery and adventure subgenres. It is part of the Macavity & Me Mystery series and was penned for the general reading audience by author Charlotte Stuart. In this quirky and highly enjoyable mystery novel, we find ourselves embroiled in a case filled with warring families, ancient treasures, and a wild exotic adventure. Bryn and her faithful cat Macavity are back to face another series of twists and turns when a beloved uncle passes away, leaving a trail that takes them through the wilderness of Canada to a stash of stolen Aztec gold… or does it?
Author Charlotte Stuart adds another excellent tome to the Macavity & Me mystery series with this fine little adventure. I found it a very pleasing read that was quick and engrossing to experience, making it an ideal length for holiday reading or a cozy afternoon by the fireside. The atmosphere and descriptive quality of the writing were a real high point, and Stuart’s words make you feel as though you’re experiencing every vivid detail of this wilderness adventure for yourself. I really enjoyed Bryn as a central character and loved learning more about the family mysteries and disputes that she gets sucked into. The dialogue in those scenes was especially witty and balances out the suspense of the mystery elements really well. Overall, Not Me! is a recommended read for mystery fans everywhere, especially those who love a cozy adventure with a delightful furry friend for company.
