The fate of humanity is at stake and the threat comes from several directions in Particle Horizon, a compelling science fiction novel by Selso Xisto. A traditional space age battle rages between the dominant Union of Free Worlds and the marginalized Legion of the Light Bringer. The main action takes place on a secret asteroid world where the Union’s most highly developed technology is being manufactured. Unknown to anyone, though, Dr. Baghdasarian, the world’s greatest scientist, is working to unravel the essence of the universe. His experiments with artificial intelligence not only have made the Union the strongest military in the universe, but have also created people with computer-like brains, and opened a door to the secrets of creation itself. This has drawn critical attention from a race of higher beings, fearful of the aggression of mankind and the damage interference in the fabric of the universe would cause. When the action reaches its highest point, the question is who will survive – and that not only refers to the main characters but to the numerous races and beings throughout the known universe and beyond.

Particle Horizon is not only a riveting science fiction novel but this deeply engaging story also touches on morality, religious expression, love, and what it means to be human. Selso Xisto has combined fantastic science fiction with truly heartfelt existential yearning to create a story that is hard to put down. While it is a bit challenging to get into, with the introduction of a variety of characters over the first several chapters, when it all comes together, the results are amazing, right down to the very last page. The science is outstanding, the emotions are really intense and the concept of Children of Light is tremendously thought provoking. There is a lot more to this work than simple entertainment. Particle Horizon is an exceptional book that provides many levels of interest for a wide range of readers beyond the regular sci-fi fan.

Particle Horizon by Selso Xisto is a science fiction read that will blow your mind. If you pick it apart, section by section, you find one complete story. That is quite a feat, to be honest, and in my limited experience, the only other author who has been able to give me this is Toni Morrison. Even in a fragmented narrative, she was always able to give me a complete story and so did Xisto. The story is set in three different parts of a future world where a war is about to happen, but for one place the war has already begun.

The LightBringers are out for the blood of everyone who rejected their god, the Union of Free Worlds is making a stand, and Angelhaven is just trying to survive. Angelhaven is the prime territory because of its elemental power. Whoever wins this place, wins the war. Marine Commander Gomes is leading the Free Worlds' army, and he wants answers that no one can provide. He also has a secret ability that is undeniable and inexplicable. Aja from LightBringer is forced to fight for a cause she never believed in, but she is only protecting herself. Una is the one fighting for her humanity before her world falls apart.

Together, the three characters create a compelling story that will make you want more. The dialogues were really good, they revealed so much about the depth of each character. The plot is perfectly complex and that makes the reader want to read on. It was so good. This is definitely one of my favorite novels of the year!

Particle Horizon by Selso Xisto is a gripping and insanely absorbing novel and you don't need to love science fiction to enjoy the read. Get on board and join the fast-paced ride to discover the mystery of Angelhaven. The Legion of LightBringer has taken up arms to protect their God, while the Union of Free Worlds is poised to make a statement. In Angelhaven, there is a secret power that both sides covet. Who can lay hands on it? Who can control it? The scene is set for compelling actors, including Marine Commander Gomes, an astute and mysterious man; Anja, a warrior in her right, powerful and determined to protect her own world; and Una, who will do anything to protect her humanity.

Selso Xisto's novel will be coveted by lovers of The Eye of God by James Rollins, only this one has a setting so colorful and mysterious that it will make readers dream. The story is punctuated by intense action, and the author has the gift of narrative as well as rich descriptions. Readers are drawn in immediately by the descriptions in the opening chapters, and it is not long before they feel like they have been with the characters for a very long while. One of the things that catches my interest when I read a book of this nature is the conflict and how it develops, and Particle Horizon isn't disappointing. The conflict is monumental and how it moves to a denouement is what will come across as shocking to some readers. From character to plot to the overall development, this novel is a huge success. A compelling story.
