In an excellent new work of spine-tingling fiction by author Jeremiah Cross, Sanguine Rose is a story that will keep readers obsessively turning the pages from the very first words all the way through to the very last. Leslie McKarron, a young woman whose father died when she was a baby, has always wished she had a relationship with her father. Her dad, Stephen Wilkerson, had been a hit man while he was living, and is still trying to use his skills in the afterlife to buy his way out of hell. When he needs the help of his daughter in order to make his deal go through, Leslie isn't sure what to do. She wants a relationship with her father, but is scared of the evil man she has always been told he was, as well as the task he has for her. When both heaven and hell take notice of what Stephen is trying to do, all must prepare for a battle like none they've ever seen before. Who will win? You'll need to read the book to find out!

Wow! Just, wow! That's exactly what I felt when I finished reading Sanguine Rose. This book is easy to read all in one sitting and, trust me, you won't want to do anything else. Author Jeremiah Cross has done a fantastic job in writing characters that his readers will continue to think about long after the story is done. If that isn't a hallmark of a great author, I'm not sure what is. His story line is unique, not an easy thing to find for a prolific reader like myself, and it is engrossing from start to finish. Any reader who enjoys paranormal fiction, or is just looking for a great new work of fiction in general, should absolutely read Sanguine Rose. I highly recommend this book, and look forward to reading more from the very talented author, Jeremiah Cross, as soon as I possibly can!

Sanguine Rose by Jeremiah Cross is Book One in The McKarron Chronicles, a paranormal fiction series surrounding the mysterious circumstances of Leslie McKarron. Growing up, Leslie always knew her father was a bad man; however, when she turns twenty-one, she realizes just how bad he was. Stephen Wilkerson was a hit man, killed before Leslie’s mother realized she was pregnant. Now, Stephen has been doomed to Hell, unless he can aid in the collection of souls from the human world. Enlisting Leslie’s help, he is determined to escape his fiery confines, no matter what the cost. Will Leslie be able to stop her father, or will she become another one of his victims?

Sanguine Rose, Book One of The McKarron Chronicles, revisits the balance of power between Heaven and Hell. Leslie is assisted by angels in her mission, and there is a hint of Lucifer wanting to take over the human realm, as he often plots to do. While the story is cohesive, I found the plot rushed at times, as if the author was trying to get to the action of the story quickly. I did find the concept of Stephen appearing to Leslie and asking her for help in unlikely places rather humorous. I would definitely read the next installment to find out what happens to Leslie and her mother, as well as Stephen.

Sanguine Rose by Jeremiah Cross is a supernatural tale of dilemma. Stephen Wilkerson is a hit man. After fifteen years in his profession, he is one of the best and has never failed at taking out a mark, until the day that one of his targets walks into a church, seeking refuge in the confessional. After accidentally shooting dead a priest, Stephen is now on the run after his mark escapes. That afternoon, Stephen confesses his occupation to his love of three years, Linda, after making love to her. Horrified, Linda is forced to hide in Stephen’s apartment when the man who’d hired him for the failed hit shows up, shooting Stephen dead. Linda learns of her pregnancy soon after, while Stephen is in Hell, making a deal with Lucifer...

Jeremiah Cross has written a spine-chilling supernatural tale of love, hate, compassion and deception, with both God’s and Lucifer’s armies as witnesses to every single act. The action and drama in this book are unparalleled and capture the reader from the very first paragraph. I found myself cheering for a demon in some places, while rolling my eyes at an overprotective mother, before realizing that mother truly does know best. When a crime so horrific is committed that it finds God’s and Lucifer’s warriors working together to bring the perpetrator to justice, you can only count on one thing, and that is to expect the unexpected. Sanguine Rose gave me an adrenaline rush like no other book has. I recommend this book to anybody who loves a supernatural thriller.
