In this thrilling mystery, the reader becomes a student at Lakeview Academy with Halle as she goes to class and is part of the rowing team. After a fateful day on the ferry, coming back after break, Halle’s boyfriend is a witness to a murder. Life at school is not the same after that - one incident after another happens, such as drugs being found in Halle’s boyfriend’s back pack. Halle is on the trail to find out who did it and how she can prove her boyfriend is innocent. It is a case of help or get out of the way as Halle has an uncanny knack of involving her friends and getting them to help her solve the case. Also, she has to get the adults in her life to take her seriously and realize that something is happening at the school among the school staff.
Scream by Stacey R. Campbell is a fun and exciting roller coaster ride! I had trouble catching my breath, and couldn’t put the book down. You know in your heart that it will work out, but you are still in agony. Halle and her friends are wonderful. That is one of the great things about the book; the fact that Halle has friends that believe in her, no matter what crazy things she says. I am sure that many of you have someone in your life that you can’t resist helping, no matter what outrageous scheme they have got going. Readers are going to love this book!
