"Shadowfever" is the fifth and final book in the 'Fever Series'. In this tale we accompany Mackayla into the White Mansion as she seeks the Sinsar Dubh. What she finds causes her to question who she is. Just as she seeks the Sinsar Dubh, it seeks her. The book begins with her mourning a deep loss, grief and guilt overwhelming her. She is forced to join forces with Darroc if she is to find the book, knowing he is both an enemy and an ally. Her true love is and always will be Barrows but they are at odds with each other. This book’s focus is on illusion versus reality. Things are not always as they seem. We find that the theme in this tale is evil versus good, but who is evil and who is good? Does good exist?

Karen Marie Moning has long been one of my favorite authors. She is a prolific writer having penned the 'Highlander Series' that left this reviewer breathless and wanting to find her own Highlander. Perhaps a trip to Scotland is in order. She is also the author of the 'Fever Series', which will soon be a movie. This review is for "Shadowfever", the last book in the 'Fever Series'. I highly recommend reading these books in order. Moning successfully brings together the cast from past books, the Keltar, Fae, and Unseelie. Even Adam Black puts in an appearance. Moning is a master crafter when it comes to characterization as well as plot. I quickly fell into the plot. I felt as if I were Mackayla Lane as she faced danger, fear, lust and love. Once you read one book in this series you will have the FEVER!
