Sky Light Ends is a work of fiction in the Christian science fiction and fantasy subgenres, and it forms the third and final part of the Whisperers book series. It is suitable for the general reading audience and was penned by author Donna E. Lane. In this breathtaking final novel of the series, we see the ultimate battle take place as the high mountain looms where the dark lord and his followers continue to reign. Infiltration is key, but there is yet more suffering and sacrifice to come for Amadah and the other survivors before they can find the hidden altar and finally rejoin the two worlds.

Where the first novel in this amazing series did a fantastic job of establishing its lore, different species, and antagonistic concept, and the second was incredible for its emotional core of struggle, suffering, and continuing to live in hope, this third novel takes all of that strife and amplifies it into a stunningly emotive climax that involves the whole world and all of its species beautifully. The message of Great Love stuck with me massively as I read the harrowing final chapters and saw what the characters had to go through. I was also warmed by the redemptions and acceptances which took place along the way, and the real emotions of the central characters in the face of grief and hardship, but also how they battled on so bravely. Overall, I cannot recommend Sky Light Ends and the Whisperers series enough for readers seeking a novel that is thrilling, harrowing, and pure of heart.

The final story in Donna E. Lane’s Whisperer trilogy, Sky Light Ends, is filled with suspense and shocking character alliances. Ogima convinces Angeni’s mixed group of Jacinthi and Jasperi that he is their supreme lord. Kwania is a slave for the Chrysoli clan; however, she has noticed the Sky Light is changing. She tells Kola, but the protective dome around the compound falls. Meanwhile, Kilichi, Chevei, Amadah, Aleshanee, Misa, Yiska, and Enla are struggling to move the light sphere. Amadah feels torn with having to leave Fala behind on a trigger mechanism. Fala convinces Kindred to allow him to continue to live despite her warning they will all suffer a cycle of unbearable pain. Angeni tries to force Meda to worship Ogima, but Nikani manages to rescue her, and they flee the mountain.

Donna E. Lane does not disappoint with this epic story. I felt anxiety over what Fala could face after being warned by Kindred. Amadah’s depression was easily felt, and I wanted to cry from her pain of loss. Angeni’s obsession with Ogima is borderline sickening. Her lack of rational thought would make me suspect she was mentally ill. The time clock of getting the light sphere to the oculus increases the intensity, especially with the rapidly changing environment. The epic conclusion to the story stunned me as I never predicted the First World would be available to so many characters. This trilogy teaches several lessons about forgiveness, acceptance, and avoiding temptation. Somewhat similar to Revelations, Sky Light Ends is a beautiful fantasy story suitable for all readers who enjoy well-developed characters displaying the results of choices result.

Sky Light Ends by Donna E. Lane is the third book in the Whisperers series. The Second World continues to crumble as the sky light is on the verge of destroying everything underneath it. Dark forces have taken control of the mountains with loyal followers that are unknowingly aiding in Skia's grand plans. Skia is now ruling as Ogima in the guise of a savior, giving the people provisions and expecting thanks while his dark plans continue toward fruition. Their only hope relies on bringing the sphere to its rightful place on the mountain and the outcome of a final battle turning in the favor of the light. Follow the characters as they embark on the final stretch of their journey where their path to the First World and a second chance comes with loss, faith, and redemption.

The third book opens amid the action as the characters we have grown attached to continue on their journey for survival. The opening details set the tone of the final part of this journey with a poignant image of the falling sky light. This visual creates an easy segue into the continuous fight between light and darkness while setting up the final battle. The imagery throughout the story represents the battle, with specific moments such as waking up in darkness or walking into the light that metaphorically portrays this. Against the backdrop of battle is the fight between the different clans which adds to the desperation to achieve peace for the world. Redemption has been a running theme throughout the trilogy and continues to remain an important aspect of each character's journey. In this third book, the theme of loss has a prominent role with a poignant example being Amadah's arc as she grieves the loss of her clan members and a friend.

Donna E. Lane captures the humanity in each of these sentient beings despite their non-human qualities and creates well-rounded characters that are relatable, flawed, and endearing. Music has played an essential role in this trilogy from the beginning through lovely hymns in that each has a specific purpose while aiding in creating a poetic and thoughtful tone. Lane has created a beautiful world that is perfectly captured through these songs with lyrics that reference the core of the trilogy's message. The music is carefully woven throughout the story with messages that tell of having faith in the Great Love and finding hope in seeking the Forever. An excellent end to a lovely trilogy, Sky Light Ends is a story about redemption and hope set against a fantasy world rooted in the battle between light and darkness.
