Achala Kshirsagar shares her heritage as well as her knowledge and passion for cooking in her cookbook, Smorgasbord of Indian Recipes. She has complied a large amount of Indian recipes for anyone and everyone to try and enjoy. Split into various sections, the recipes are well organized. Many Indian dishes require different types of cooking styles and techniques than other cuisines; therefore, the first section discusses and describes these cooking techniques that are used while preparing Indian dishes. Next there are some recipes for spices and seasonings that are unique as well. Then there are a nice variety of recipes for each course including soups, breads, sweets, fish, meats and appetizers.

Personally, I have never looked through an Indian cookbook, but in my opinion, this is a comprehensive cookbook for anyone who enjoys Indian food or would like to try something new! Kshirsagar is thorough as she includes descriptions and is essentially teaching the chef about cooking Indian food and also shares a wide range of recipes. I love trying new recipes and new types of food, so I was very excited to receive this book! I did have some reservations as I have never prepared Indian food and believed it to be too difficult; however, I was proved wrong and loved browsing the recipes in this book and planning meals!
