Carrie has finally ended her marriage to a no-good man, but her soon-to-be ex, Dave, isn’t going away quietly. Someone is calling her at all hours of the night and Dave’s ominous words constantly ring in her ears. After a rather tumultuous beginning, Carrie and her coworker Sam go from enemies to lovers and that is how the stage is set early on in Lori Leger’s Some Day Somebody. Although this story is about a renewed ability to love again, it is above all else a tale of suspense. Someone is making Carrie’s life hell; is it her ex-husband or is it someone with more sinister plans for the single mom? That is the question every reader will wonder as they follow Carrie and Sam on their journey to love.

Lori Leger does a good job of weaving romance and suspense without one element suffering in sacrifice to the other. Some Day Somebody is not your typical romance between two lonely divorcees, but a true tale of honest, grown up love. It isn’t grand gestures that bond Sam and Carrie together, but rather the everyday obstacles and support when times are hard. The blending of two families and the ability to get through a stalker is where the love story blossoms. While I didn’t really get that ‘Cajun flair’ of the story, the 'down home small town' factor made everyone feel like family throughout the story.

Sam and Carrie are strong characters who coped with their respective divorces in different ways, but ultimately ended up learning to live and love again without excess baggage. With very few kinks, Lori Leger has produced a great story with characters we can care about.
