Sonset: A Memoir Of Family Dysfunction by G.H. Larrivee Jr. is the personal journey of a man and his relationship with his father, and how that impacted his relationship with his son. I found it easy to relate to this book, my relationship with both my real father and my step-father are complicated. This book is a story of truth, from one person’s side. It is a story that the author wanted to tell. The author shares how his mother was abused mentally. She felt she had little self-worth. The author was determined to never be the type husband or father he grew up with.

The author demonstrates the effect divorce has on children. He discusses the adjustments to a blended family. This is a gripping read. Many families are facing the same situation the author has faced. There are many grammatical errors and misspellings…but if you put that aside and see the story for what it is, and then you will enjoy this read, though it might be hard to read (emotionally) for some. I am sure a lot of people can relate to most of the things in the book.
