In The Angel Tea House: Maggie McCready Travelling Tarot Adventures by Melody R. Green, Maggie is spiritually connected and uses her gift for good when she moves to Angel Hill and rents a flat near The Angel Tea House, run by Lucy. As Maggie senses negative energies on Angel Street, she prepares for her mission. At a business meeting, Maggie helps Lucy and uncovers an intense connection between Lucy and Tobias “Toby” Black. Maggie's work is with tarot readings and generally facing the chaos caused by an arch-demon. Maggie sets some light roots, rescues a dog named Dodger, and gets busy trying to see that justice is served, criminals are arrested, and setting Angel Street free from dark forces.

Maggie McCready Travelling Tarot Adventures looks to be a charmed series and The Angel Tea House as my first read was a delight! In some ways, and especially with Maggie's transient lifestyle, it feels like a more contemporary and reader-accessible story than Joanne Harris' Chocolat. Set in sleepy England, Maggie's unwavering dedication to her mission and reliance on her intuition, cards, and spirit guides make her more of a force. My heart warmed when the graffiti attack on Angel Street sparked a transformative idea and a plan for the Autumn Nights Café. It's a turning point where a negative event became a positive gathering that strengthened the community against adversity. The dark forces are very dark and test the light Maggie has that empowers her to persevere and protect the innocent. Author Melody R. Green employs plenty of takeaways to help us assess our real-world lives, and with a series of tea blends in the back to boot, I'm looking forward to seeing what Maggie is up to in the next town.

The Angel Tea House: Maggie McCready Travelling Tarot Adventures by Melody R. Green is a mystical tale of spiritual growth and resilience. Maggie, a red-haired spiritualist, moves to Angel Hill and becomes entwined in the local life, notably through a tea house run by Lucy. Facing challenges from the nefarious Toby Black, Phineas, and other malevolent entities, Maggie uses her tarot reading skills and spiritual guidance, particularly from Archangel Michael, to navigate these obstacles. With the unraveling of complex karmic ties and various mystical encounters, Maggie assists Lucy, who suffers from harassment and an arson attack on her tea house. Against such turmoil, the power of community and spiritual strength must be greater than ever.

The Angel Tea House is a unique novel in its approach to wrapping a story around the metaphysical. This is elevated further by Melody R. Green's colorful storytelling, town atmosphere, and well-developed characters. Maggie’s character, her move to Angel Hill, and her instant introduction to the spirit guides are the perfect foundation for the unfolding events to come. The range of multidimensional earthly and otherworldly characters, as well as their relationships and conflict, are wide enough to make the cast feel interesting but not so much that they become difficult to follow. The most intriguing aspect is the exploration of spiritual and supernatural elements. The build-up is paced at an even clip and the climactic scene with a bonafide arch-demon manifests organically. Maggie's and Lucy's strengths paralleled with unseen forces, the power of conviction, and the blend of everyday life with the mystical are what make The Angel Tea House an engaging read.
