When a character driven by unbridled greed, the hunger for power, and the arrogance to believe he can have it all confronts one with genuine decency, honor, and devotion to his family and country, the results are explosive. The Beauty of Love, a wonderful historical novel by Dorothy Wiley, begins with two people visiting their deceased spouses in a New England cemetery and, through chance, brings them together to fight grasping relatives and find the surprise of new love. Edward and Dora return from the mountains of New Hampshire to the upper-class life of Boston, where Edward’s older brother and his wife have gone to meet Catherine’s family. Beset by debts due to overextending his business holdings, Mr. Forbes spares no effort in trying to claim his daughter’s inheritance for himself. With the help of Edward’s new love and her attorney father, things quieten down and Sam and Catherine plan to return to Kentucky and the life they have created for themselves there. Meanwhile, Edward and Dora become closer and wonder what the future may hold for them as they both experience the ugliness of greed as compared to the beauty of nature and the pure love that Sam and Catherine share. When tragedy strikes, where will their paths take them?

This is another wonderful story! Beautiful scenery set against the harshness of nature mirrors the blight and beauty of the human soul in The Beauty of Love: American Wilderness Series Romances Book 6 by Dorothy Wiley. Colonial life is well depicted as are the trials and tribulations of the wilderness as the characters make their way through day-to-day business in the growing country. I love the depth of the characters - how they learn and grow as they experience different things. Fabulous descriptions, heartfelt emotions, and homespun wisdom support great characters that you can’t help but cheer and cry for as they face hardships and obstacles. Well written and hard to put down, The Beauty of Love is well worth reading by itself or within the excellent American Wilderness Series by Dorothy Wiley.
