The Cat Detectives in Russia: The Case of the Missing Faberge Egg is designed for upper elementary children and all animal lovers. R.F. Kristi blends two of her favorite topics - cats and mystery - to create an adorable, yet inquisitive Siberian kitty detective, Inca. When her human mom traveled to Russia to display her famous cheeses, Inca was excited to visit her mother country. Inca and her detective agency are intrigued by the mystery surrounding a very expensive Faberge egg that goes missing with no clues left behind. Inca must solve this mystery quickly to clear the name of someone dear to her, but could one of her new friends be involved in the theft?

R.F. Kristi has found her niche writing about felines and suspense. The Cat Detectives in Russia: The Case of the Missing Faberge Egg is the ninth in her Inca Cat Detective series. Charming friends and mysterious places will draw young people in with Inca as she takes on a new case that could implicate a royal cousin or her new robotic friend. The plot involves the characters traveling to famous historical buildings in Russia, allowing children to learn about the rich culture of the Russian people. The animals are fitting for their breed while adding personality to their individual characters. Overall, this book will feed a child’s imagination while educating them about different cultures, how to make new friends, and entertain them with the mystery surrounding a theft. This is an author that parents can point their children towards, knowing they can trust her to enrich their lives through books. I would like to mention the illustrations which complement the book beautifully.

The Cat Detectives in Russia: The Case of the Missing Fabergé Egg is a work of mystery fiction involving animal protagonists, written for children by author R. F. Kristi. Forming the ninth book of The Inca Cat Detective Series, this delightful and amusing chapter book features many illustrations by Maaz Farzaan in order to tell the story of Inca, the Siberian Detective Cat. With her trusty team at her side, Inca’s newest mystery to be solved features a stolen priceless egg that needs to be returned to a local museum in Russia. What follows is a culturally rich and educational tale which also features plenty of fun and frolics along the way.

Enthusiastic young readers who want to venture out on their own with their first chapter books are sure to be delighted with the accessible style and fun visual presentation of this novel, and indeed companions in the series. It’s easy to dive right into the mystery because of author R. F. Kristi’s thoughtful introduction to Inca, her family, and her detective team, so this read can be enjoyed as a standalone mystery from the series as a whole. The characters are larger than life with superb dialogue and their own distinct personalities, and the illustrations by Maaz Farzaan will aid readers with their imagination for the most dynamic parts of the tale. More than this, though, The Cat Detectives in Russia: The Case of the Missing Fabergé Egg is a highly educational read which opens the door for children to culture, history and the wide world around them.

Inca and Company is a highly acclaimed detective agency, headed by none other than Inca the Siberian cat. There are also a couple of dogs in this detective agency and the team works diligently together to solve the mysteries. They’ve had several very successful cases recently, but this time they’re off to Russia, a trip to help promote Missy’s (a.k.a. Mom) new cheese. Little do they know there’s another mystery awaiting them, this one involving a rather valuable Fabergé egg. They have teamed up with a new recruit to the agency, Jibo, a robot with some interesting abilities to transform into different shapes and even fly to the rescue when needed. They even meet the royal Siberian cats of the Peterhof Palace and assist in saving the royal bunnies from a flock of pesky birds of prey. Solving mysteries with Inca and Company is definitely a compilation of multiple adventures.

R.F. Kristi’s young people’s mystery novel, The Cat Detectives in Russia: The Case of the Missing Fabergé Egg – Diary of a Snoopy Cat – The Inca Cat Detective Series Book 9, follows in the tradition set in the previous books. In this novel, an exciting adventure of amateur sleuthing takes place with a company of cats and dogs, and an ingeniously versatile robot. The story is told in journal form as Inca records the events in a special journal (diary) of what has transpired. Even though written in journal form, there is considerable dialogue and the plot is well developed. R.F. Kristi has created a delightful cast of characters, from the rambunctious and sometimes humorous cat and dog detectives (and robot) to the malicious and dangerous criminals and their recruited birds of prey. This is definitely a fun and exciting read for young readers.
