The Fickle Pickle and More Zanytown Tales! by Jeff Eisenbaum includes characters like Chuck, who is the world’s most famous pickle, and Kai, who is way too tall to fit in a photograph. Being a twin is so much fun, it’s like looking in the mirror. Hiking is also enjoyable, especially when everything is made of the tastiest treats in the world. Would you want to see a rock band that doesn’t move? Do you like to use blocks to build towers? How high can you stack them, and how would you get back down? Brad’s underwear flies away from the clothesline, floating with the breeze. Embarrassed by his predicament, he tries to chase them down. Where will they go? Will he be able to catch his undies before his friends see them?

This collection has lots of funny stories that will keep children wanting to read more just to see what the next page will bring. Each tale has an amusing and unusual plot. The characters in each story are cute and relatable. I loved how the author kept the stories short, light, and entertaining so that children will be excited about learning to read. The illustrations by Masha Klot are bold and colorful images that accompany every story. I recommend The Fickle Pickle and More Zanytown Tales! by Jeff Eisenbaum to young children that love a variety of adventures, and I hope that Eisenbaum and Klot team up for more of these Zanytown Tales.
