In The Rescue by Felicia Rogers, Lady Farrah Burrows believes she is in love and wants to marry her childhood sweetheart. She secretly spends time with him because she knows her father would not approve. Her sweetheart sails off to make a name for himself and prove himself worthy of her hand. When rumors circulate and cast shadows upon Farrah's reputation, her father feels he must marry her off in the best bargain he can make. Farrah has no choice but to follow through with the wedding to a less than desirable mate, but even though her plans went awry and she feels trapped, fate may have something more in store for her. Andrew Ravenlowe, second Earl of Ravenwood, wakes up in jail with no memory of his life. He goes home to an unfamiliar place with a cast of strangers, and a mother with whom he feels no connection. Lady Farrah strikes his fancy, and even though she is to be married to one man, and claims to be in love with yet another, he still wants to help her with her predicament. She has captured his heart.

The Rescue read well as a stand alone book. It also made me want to read the first book in this series by Felicia Rogers to learn how the adventure begins and experience what Andrew was like before he lost his memory. Andrew's character was written incredibly well. His mother's character was endearing and, at times, quite comical. I loved their story. Farrah was a strong lead role, and although she fell in line with her father's orders, she was constantly looking for a way to solve her problems and get out of the next snag she found herself wrapped up in. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it, also to start with the first book in the series, as I plan to go back and read that one.
