The Thin Man's Poison by Randall Jarmon is a thrilling tale of romantic suspense. Lars Brent is nothing special to look at but he is one of the best research pharmacologists in the world. He alone knows what goes into his wonder drug but, even though it is worth at least half a trillion dollars, he isn’t selling to anyone. Why not? First, it is the best poison that has ever been invented and, second, he’s the killer that nobody can find. Lars is a counter-assassin, on the hunt for three of the deadliest contract killers in the world. Normally focused on his prey, Lars finds himself blindsided by love when he finds an ex-colleague is divorced. Not only does he have to hunt down and kill three of the best assassins produced by Russia in years, but he also has to grapple with all that love throws at him. The question is, can he beat the challenges that await him?

The Thin Man’s Poison by Randall Jarmon is an edge-of-your-seat thriller with lots of romantic suspense built in for good measure. Two stories – the counter-assassin and the romance – both colliding explosively as their threads slowly weave together in a tale that will leave you breathless. This is action all the way, no let-up and you will be on the edge of your seat as you follow this thin, unassuming man with what seems to be the perfect murder weapon. The characters are perfectly developed, each with their own story to tell. Murderer or not, you may just find yourself rooting for Lars Brent – after all, he’s only taking out assassins! If you love suspenseful mysteries, you’re going to love this and you won’t want it to end.

In The Thin Man's Poison by Randall Jarmon, when the Montreal Mob sent six deadly assassins to kill the children of wealthy business magnate, Sanjay Haranya, they unknowingly made a formidable enemy. Lars 'Needles' Brent is an unassuming scientist and the inventor of a deadly super-poison that can kill instantly, leaving no trace. He is a master at eliminating assassins and since his successful mission against the Montreal Mob five years ago, Needles is now hired to kill the notorious Russian assassins, the Volkov brothers, before they strike at a Mega-Pharma convention. Needles has made many enemies who want the formula of the poison for themselves. Needles struggles to trust anyone apart from his former colleague and recent divorcee, Mila Rossi. As Needles' enemies plan to kidnap, torture, and kill him for his secret formula, he must use all his expertise to survive.

The Thin Man's Poison by Randall Jarmon is a gripping novel filled with romance, action, suspense, and thought-provoking content. I loved the characters - they were colorful and believable with detailed personality traits. Needles was a superb protagonist, and although not the usual hero of a novel, regarding his appearance, he was perfectly cast. Needles was absolutely fearless, self-confident and so cool under pressure. The development of his relationship with Mila was written very sympathetically, considering their personalities and past relationship experiences. There were great villains throughout the plot, lurking in the shadows and waiting to attack and capture Needles. This really kept me on the edge of my seat. The whole concept of the storyline is going to spark much debate, I imagine; some would find the idea of administering such a poison quite chilling if it fell into the wrong hands. The areas of conflict were absolute perfection and the ending was a punch in the air moment. This novel will be hard to forget even when the final page is turned.

The Thin Man's Poison by Randall Jarmon is a crime thriller with romance and is a great read. It follows Lars Brent, the world’s most brilliant research pharmacologist who has something that Big Pharma will kill for: a unique recipe for poison. His poison is the best ever made, and it is worth half a trillion dollars. However, he can’t cash that in, so he takes out assassins in an uncanny manner for a huge fee. Now he is on a contract to kill the three most famous and skilled Russian contract killers. Meanwhile, Mila Rossi, another brilliant scientist and colleague from the past, resurfaces in his life and this time around she is divorced and the hopes of them making it in love are high. While he might take out the best of Russia’s contract killers, he is still to face an even deadlier enemy, one who covets his scientific invention. Can he come out as a winner in both the killing game and the game of love, or will he go down this time?

This is a novel that is well-plotted, and I enjoyed how the author writes the backstory, starting with Sanjay Haranya in Canada, the murder of the best Indian assassins, and the mob rivalry. It moves fast to feature a complex plot where powerful characters spend millions of dollars to take out their enemies. The setting is well-written and readers will enjoy the covert activities happening in this novel, the stabbings-in-the-back, and the intrigue. Randall Jarmon provides insight into the dark practices of Mega Pharma. The use of code names like Old Dog, Needles, Necromancer, and others adds a deeper layer of mystery to the story. The romance part of the story is brilliantly developed and it enhances the conflict. The Thin Man's Poison is a well-crafted story that features rock-solid characters and a clever plot. It was, for me, an exciting read.

Middle-aged Lars Brent, notoriously known as 'Needles,' is a unique combination of a pharmacologist-assassin that you do not commonly encounter in romantic suspense thrillers. In Randall Jarmon’s The Thin Man’s Poison, you will find that Brent is the brilliant creator of a top-secret proprietary drug with potency levels that range from paralyzing to lethal. Brent has made himself immune to it as he uses this drug in his counter-assassination missions. He could have been the world’s wealthiest man had he cashed in on his invention but chose not to as he uses it as a top-secret weapon. With such a powerful drug at his disposal, he is surrounded by treachery while he tracks down three of the best contract killers commissioned by Valhalla, the largest pharmaceutical industry.

Randall Jarmon’s character description is enough for you to find the uniqueness in Lars Brent, in which he is described as a skinny, bearded man who is more cut out for a civil service career instead of venturing into perilous missions. Then Jarmon ends his description by stating that only Brent’s intelligent eyes suggest there might be something special about him. The Thin Man’s Poison is the type of novel that will translate well as a movie or as a limited comic book series. The romantic angle between Brent and Mila Rossi adds spice to the narrative whenever Brent takes a break from tracking assassins. Mila Rossi is not the typical trophy girlfriend, but rather a woman who is, in all measure, Lars Brent’s equal. This is a fun and memorable romantic suspense thriller.

The Thin Man's Poison by Randall Jarmon is a very unique action-packed romance that will blow you away. Lars Brent is a skinny man with a Ph.D. and a recipe for a poison that he uses to serve his purpose. He is a scientist by day and a killer by night. His next targets are three contract killers, and he has no regrets. He is used to getting the job done as soon as possible; however, that all changes the moment Mila Rossi walks into his life. They were once colleagues, but now they are in love. He is distracted by her charm, wit, and beauty, although her teenage children are not welcoming of the skinny Brent. Can he succeed in capturing Mila’s kids' hearts and get the three assassins he is after? Usually, there will be no question about it, but now, he just doesn’t know.

The Thin Man's Poison by Randall Jarmon is fun and interesting. I love how Lars Brent talks. He isn’t shady, but there is something a little disconcerting about the way he acts. He is everything that you will expect from a quintessential scientist, but he is essentially a more sane Dexter. He and Mila are not a typical couple that you will think of, but somehow, they work. I love the tension in the narrative, the pace of the story, and the overall feel of it. It is fun to see Brent’s confidence shake because of two teenagers (I laughed out loud at certain points), and I just loved his reactions. The actual suspense is pretty amazing. There is a race against time that Brent always wins, and then there are times when he is left second-guessing himself. It is a novel that is worth reading well into the night.
