In The Three Souls by Bill W. Thomas, John Chambers is just an ordinary guy, trying to earn an honest living. His girlfriend, Kitty, also works hard. Things start to unravel when first Kitty loses her job on false accusations, then John loses his job and is arrested for an armed robbery that he didn't commit. John's life continues on a downward turn in prison where he is abused, beaten and raped. Working at banging out license plates, John becomes friends with Vinny and David, who both experienced near-death before their incarceration. Now they're thinking and dreaming strange visions, and John believes that they have taken on the souls of Mozart and Van Gogh. After a severe beating, John faces near-death and wakens with an impulse to write like Hemingway. Throughout this incredible tale of reincarnation, John uncovers plots and wrong-doings amongst the prison staff. As the ill-fated date of November 22, 1963, approaches, Hemingway warns John of an assassination plot. No one believes John and as he, Vinny and David make their escape from prison, they start to wonder if the prison staff are somehow involved in the assassination of the President of the United States.

Bill W. Thomas has created an interesting fantasy about reincarnation, remarkably amongst prisoners. After a slow beginning, the story picks up its pace and effectively adds tension and excitement as each new drama unfolds. This is a fascinating fantasy with real-life characters and scenarios. It's difficult to imagine reincarnation inside a high-security prison, but the author makes it seem quite possible.
