Author Biography

Hello, mo chairde and welcome to my website. I am M.T. Magee, the author of the award-winning, #1 Amazon international, bestselling series, The Rinefield Chronicles. Book #1 is entitled The Treasure of Gwenlais. Book #2 is Child of the Kindred. Book #3 is now in production.
I live in New England on our small farm with my husband and son. We raise an assortment of silly goats, quiet rabbits, far too many ducks and chickens, and a high-strung Border Collie cross named Gronk. I have always loved fantasy and fell in love with Tolkien at age eleven. I read all of his works by age twelve. I have been writing stories since I was ten years old and have always wanted to be an author.
The world I have created, comes from the inspiration of both my Scottish heritage and my husband’s Irish descent, with pride and respect for both cultures. The beauty of the Scottish Highlands, as well as the lush rolling meadows of Ireland, serve as a backdrop for the mythical realm of Rienfield.

The Treasure of Gwenlais by M.T. Magee is an epic fantasy romance about a prophecy in which a female heir will unite two kingdoms. However, there are those that fear the prophecy's fulfillment and set plans in motion to thwart it. The highly sheltered Princess Laurel of Gwenlais finds herself reliant on the help of neighboring Prince Caleb of Heathwin, who is considered quite barbaric by the people of Gwenlais, but whom she has known and adored her whole life. In the fight to thwart the many threats on her life - be it man eating plants, highly trained assassin cats, Lethal Rabkin creatures, or regular old humans - they must learn to work together and trust each other in new ways as well as also overcome personal weaknesses and kingdom prejudices.

This book by new author M.T. Magee was light on the fantasy and heavy on the romance, which was still mild and clean. Even still, the fantasy elements were uniquely imaginative and added something extra to what would have been an enjoyable medieval Celtic romance. The fantasy elements create unusual twists and turns to the journey that Princess Laurel and Prince Caleb must take in order to fulfill the prophecy. I particularly loved the bantering dialogue between many of the characters. Magee has great insight into people and humor. She has created loveable characters that suck you into the Kingdoms of Gwenlais and Heathwin, and has imagined wonderful fantasy elements to create a world that you won't want to leave.

Author pleasantly surprised me.
A beautifully written fantasy world, with unique cultures and beings. Magee is a classic storyteller. I loved how the author used actual places in both Scotland and Ireland and made it her own world. The characters are well developed and drawn out, including the secondary characters, full of depth and each with a very different personality, no wallpaper characters here. I enjoyed watching the heroine Laurel grow as the story progressed. The hero, Caleb, was brave, passionate, but tender and loving to the heroine's needs. The growing romance between them was a joy to experience. I liked the mystery and intrigue with the story line. I enjoyed a new race to the genre, the Rabkins. A fascinating race that was obviously the author's take on indigenous peoples. I also enjoyed the use of the Gaelic language throughout the story. I have not read fantasy in some time as the new take on the genre I find too dark and often times brutal and demeaning to women. Ms. Magee handles this beautifully and adds just the right amount of humor amid the tragedy. Her prose was lovely, something not often done in fantasy nowadays. Be prepared this is not a story you will finish in two days, and is the first of a series. I found it engaging, moving, romantic, and with some laugh out loud moments. Well worth my time. I look forward to the next installment. Don't leave us waiting too long M.T. Magee.

MT Magee’s very first book is wonderful. She writes a fantasy that the reader wants to be a part of. Her heroine is very complex and has many intriguing faucets. Not only is she a princess who must do whatever she can for her people and her land but she is also a healer, one that must learn her ability and use it wisely. The author writes her heroine with so much detail that the reader can peel back each of her layers and truly get to know the woman inside. The hero is just as interesting and evolved. He helps the Heroine Princess Laurel to learn and grow from a spoiled girl to a kind and strong woman. Together they must fight for their love as well as their kingdoms. They must battle evil doers and protect what is most important to them both.
MT’s background and secondary characters are just as detailed as the main characters. The magic of the story is one I haven’t experienced in a long time. It is a perfect mix of fantasy and romance that keeps you turning the page for more and more adventure. Every aspect of this story is written perfectly, from the characters, to the plot line; from the first page to the very last. I cannot wait till the second book comes out.

Wow. For a first novel M.T. Magee has captured a wonderful story full of intrigue and romance. Laurel can be a bit of a spoilt brat with all of her poutiness and temper, but as Caleb says it makes her quite endearing.

I loved the camaraderie between Caleb and his brothers and i admit to having a few chuckles. This book has it all, laughter, seriousness, as Caleb is quite often worried about the welfare of Laurel and intrigue, can't say much as it will spoil things, but above all, romance. Laurel and Caleb are truly in love.

Definitely a keeper and one that i shall read and read again

I just hope that we don't have to wait too long for book 2 to find out what is in store for the villains, I just hope it will be very fitting.

In this epic fantasy romance, I fell in love with the journey of Prince Caleb of Heathwin and Princess Laurel of Gwenlais. A mixture of heartache and hope--intrigue and suspense. And of course, love. I was swept away into another realm, captivated by this beautiful world that Ms. Magee has created. I'm a huge fan of secondary characters and found so many enduring ones that became my favorite. Be prepared to take an incredible journey--to be spellbound within the pages of this beautifully written story. So many twists and surprises. I am eagerly anticipating the next in this new series!

This is the first book from this author. She has done a superb job at being writing this book. It is in a world of Fantasy. Not only does she make the Heroine delicate, but she is also a force. She has such power and emotions. The Hero is a perfect offset to her. Strong, understanding, and always there to be at her side in need or not.

The people in the book were so well done. The story line was good, and plot even better. For a first timer she has a great start to a wonderful career. This book draws you in and keeps you interested. It is part mystery, deceit, action, traitors. You begin with a sign of how well she writes right off. You can be pulled in to the heartache and want to cry next to the Heroines side. Then comes the Hero, oh yes I would want him as my savior too.

Wonderfully told fantasy story. Great job!!!
WOW!!! Where do I start?! This is a brilliant new book, by first time author, M.T. Magee. This is a long read to be sure, but I found that it flowed very well, it did not 'bog down'. There are so many elements all masterfully woven together. This is the story of a fantastic realm, centered around the two kingdoms of Gwenlais, and Heathwin. These kingdoms have had an uneasy alliance together for many years, but now there are forces from outside that are trying to tear them apart. Enter Prince Caleb of Heathwin, and Princess Laurel of Gwenlais. They must come together to unite their kingdoms against this unseen force, while trying to bury long held mistrust and unrest. You will truly be 'hooked' by the first page. It starts off with a bang, and finishes with a.... I'm not going to say. You will just have to read it for yourself. Again, so many elements to this story. There is great action, adventure and tragedy, along with suspense and intrigue, and yes romance. I am a man reading this, and while there is a strong love story, I found that it was very well done, and you ladies out there should enjoy it as well. There are great relationships between the leads, family is important Another aspect of this book, is the wonderful 'new' peoples and creatures that the imagination of Ms. Magee was able to come up with. I feel that it can be summed up by a quote from my favorite sci-fi series. "To boldly go where no one has gone before." You will not find mention of the often used, or overused, elves, dwarfs, wizards, etc. Now don't get me wrong, I love these guys, big fan of Tolkien, just nice to see some new creations. The race of beings called the Rabkins, and also the Kedesh, are just two of many new and interesting, sometimes frightening creations of hers. Another aspect that I really enjoyed, was her use of 'old speak' which was based on old Gaelic. This was just one part of the book that was taken from old Irish and Scottish traditions, names and places. Speaking of language, the witty banter and dialogue between the characters was masterful. There is a nice blend of humor too, some outright LOL moments. You can lose yourself in a scene because you can 'hear' them talking. Her descriptions of people and places were so well done, so descriptive, that you will be able to 'see' them. Her ability to write in 'proper' English, harkens back to writers like J. Austen and E. Gaskell. So with that being said, this is truly an epic fantasy adventure!! Only one spoiler alert. This is the first in a series of books that will entertain you for years to come. It is a place you will want to revisit often. I cannot wait for the next installment!

This is amazing love story of Princess Laurel of Gwenlais and Prince Caleb of Heathwin. Two Kingdoms that one young and sheltered Princess can bring together. There is evil that will try to prevent this from happening at any cost. Can love overcome evil? This is a fantasy world with a different race of beings that only Prince Caleb can communicate with. The Rabkins, two races who can learn to live in the same world, differently. I was transformed into this world with each page. I highly recommend this series to everyone. You will not be disappointed. It's wonderfully written, with well defined characters. I am looking forward to the next book in this series with much anticipation.
