Author Biography

Susan Helene Gottfried is the author of ShapeShifter: The Demo Tapes — Year 1, ShapeShifter: The Demo Tapes — Year 2, Trevor’s Song, and ShapeShifter: The Demo Tapes — Year 3. She can be found online at http://westofmars.com, where you can find The Meet and Greet, among other goodies.

A tone-deaf rocker-at-heart, Susan worked in retail record stores, in radio stations, as stage crew, and as a promoter while earning two college degrees in creative writing.

Susan walked away from a continued career in the music industry in order to write books, so it makes sense that most of her fiction revolves around rock bands. Once you get those record stores, radio stations, and fellow roadies and promoters under your skin, they never leave.

The Win a Book Publicity blog has been shut down after a glorious run, replaced by a page on Facebook where bloggers and authors can post links themselves. To fill her time, Susan takes on freelance line and copy editing from various clients.

In Trevor’s Song by Susan Helene Gottfried we meet ShapeShifter, a rock band on the verge of hitting it big time. Trevor Wolf is the driving force behind the band. He enjoys the fame, money, women and all the other perks. The women are his favorite. Trevor doesn’t like change; he’s self centered, egotistical and immature. When his best friend and band member Mitchell decides to do the unthinkable...marry his girl friend Kerri, Trevor’s determined to stop the nuptials. After the wedding Trevor discovers he has a connection to Kerri. As much as he doesn’t want to like her, he does.

The best part of this book is watching Trevor mature. The character is multifaceted. Gottfried is a master at characterization. I can’t say that Trevor was likable, because he wasn’t; but he was interesting. There are many secondary characters that are important to the storyline. Each character has depth and personality. I found myself wanting to know even more about them. I do have one major complaint concerning this book. The language. While I understand this is the normal way of talking for many, I found the language offensive.
