Author Biography

Dr. Marni Hill Foderaro is a multi-award-winning and celebrated author, speaker and educator. She earned her doctorate in education from Northern Illinois University and completed postdoctoral studies at Harvard during a very successful and rewarding 35-year career as a high school special education teacher, with 12 years as a university adjunct professor. True Deceit False Love by Dr. Marni Hill Foderaro explores the dynamics of abusive relationships, with a central focus on narcissistic abuse. Foderaro provides a list of common and uncommon terms related to abuse that help victims make sense of what they are experiencing. If you are unfamiliar with tactics used by abusers, then their abusive behavior can often be confused as someone just showing negative personality traits. Foderaro clarifies what is happening to a victim by putting their experiences into perspective and showing how there is more to poor treatment, especially when there is a pattern of bad behavior. This book is a powerful resource for victims who can use it as a guide to pursue further research on the topic and begin clarifying what is happening to them to plan their next step.

True Deceit False Love by Dr. Marni Hill Foderaro is a bold, candid, revealing, and insightful resource for abuse victims. I found this book very enlightening. I already knew a fair amount of the vocabulary because I am familiar with the subject, but Foderaro gave me a new perspective. Unfamiliar terms I found fascinating include echoism, ego-frugality, normalizing, and sandbagging. All the terms are easy to comprehend, and the book is well structured with an introduction that places it all into context. Foderaro empowers victims to identify and clarify what is happening to them by providing them with the terminology to speak about it. This is a must-read for adults and teenagers because abusers are everywhere; at home, the office, and school. I enjoyed this fascinating and helpful book.
