Vanquishing Cancer: Winning the Fight of Your Life by Steven P. Shepard is a heart-wrenching memoir where readers are taken along with the author on his journey from that of being a young aerospace engineer to that of being diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, and his battle with cancer. A cancer diagnosis is devastating and at 28 it can crush a person's world. As one reads about the scans, chemotherapy, bloodwork, and nutrition, one learns more about the author's struggles, challenges, courage, strength, hope, trust, and healing as he deals with cancer and the treatment for it. The book focuses mainly on details that appeal to a wider audience and will enable patients to make wise choices regarding their treatment.

This memoir is a good tool to fight cancer and take the first step towards successful treatment and complete recovery. Steven P. Shepard is honest and he takes readers through every stage with patience, giving them detailed information on his struggles and the challenges he met. There is a lot of information that will be helpful for patients and their caregivers and he makes the technical aspects of cancer and its treatment easy to understand. Vanquishing Cancer will help patients fight and beat the disease. The author's positive approach toward dealing with the disease is encouraging and will motivate many patients to tackle their cancer diagnosis and treatment with courage and strength and overcome the challenges. The tips in the book will definitely help patients, caregivers, and those diagnosed with cancer to stay upbeat throughout the process.
