Visions of Johanna is a romance drama by Peter Sarno. When free-spirited Johanna Beaumont, an artist from Wisconsin, meets young music critic Matt Dominic at a Bob Dylan concert, the two immediately hit it off, and soon a burgeoning relationship blooms. As the couple spends more time together, Johanna introduces Matt to her world, exploring art galleries and movie theaters and delving into a passionate romance filled with adventure. However, Matt's reluctance to move out of Massachusetts and Johanna's work in New York City slowly drives the inevitable wedge into their relationship. Traumatic events from the past still haunt both of their lives. While Johanna's influence helps Matt rid himself of the guilt he carried all these years, will Matt be able to return the favor when Johanna needs him by her side?
Treat yourself to a slice-of-life tale about two people who fall in love and change each other's lives forever with Visions of Johanna. Peter Sarno's debut novel is filled to the brim with nostalgia, romance, and a hearty appreciation of the arts. The two main characters try to find a balance between their creative work and their personal lives while struggling to navigate their love for each other through numerous challenges. Matt and Johanna's relationship is the prime focus of the story, as Sarno showcases how some bonds last lifetimes and have an impact on people who may not have met each other in decades. I enjoyed the book, which is a stellar debut.
