Author Biography

In the mid-80s, I read Goethe's Faust and that set me thinking in various new directions. Also, I bought an Apple 2+ and was fascinated by Pie, their text editor, a revolutionary thing for many of us. I tinkered and played with my new toy and out popped what became Wrong Turn At Antares. It wasn't that simple. Actually, it was revisited now and then for 40 years. Writing is wonderful for improving the mood at certain times when you need a lift. Try it!

As to my bio, a major turning point in my life was a 9th-grade Algebra I course taught by an unforgettable teacher -- Marian Raber. I could write a book about her. After struggling for months of her demanding style the lights came on. I eventually became a mathematician, got a Ph.D. in and had some success as a researcher. But don't hold that against me, mathematicians aren't what you think - they're not all accountants nor are they all arithmetically gifted. They are often artists in their way.

Wrong Turn At Antares is a work of science fiction written for adults and penned by author Raymond Hunter. Including mature themes, some moderate sexual content and a general discussion of the folly of religion, this interesting and modern perspective centers on the events of Stella and her existence. As the future of her world hangs in the balance, the mysterious Stella embarks on a mission to Earth to find solutions with only her blind courage as her guide. When she meets John, the earthling has a mission of his own, but their bond of love grows and causes yet more complications to both their fates.

Author Raymond Hunter hits an interesting demographic for older readers who are fans of science fiction, but also enjoy a good satirical look at human nature and the way of the world today. The work is peppered with references to a world where technology wasn’t quite so fast-paced, harking back to the glory days of science fiction before it all got so complicated. The character development is solid, giving Stella and John’s relationship a chance to bloom and be appreciated amid the chaos, and the multi-layered narrative gives equal space to romance, social commentary, sci-fi hijinks, and philosophical considerations, making for a varied reading experience with plenty to keep you thinking afterward. Overall, Wrong Turn At Antares is a compelling read that will hit home with classic science fiction fans, as well as those looking for an entertaining read in a new genre.
