BOBcat's Big Adventure is a book for children written by Dana Popoff and illustrated by Alina Shabelnyk. Here we meet BOBcat. Though he dreams and wishes to run outside and roam freely, he can't because he knows his owner wouldn't be happy about it. One sunny morning, while staring out the window, BOBcat's curiosity and excitement about what great adventures awaited him outside under the big blue sky got the better of him. At first, BOBcat promised himself everything would be all right if he stayed close to the house and his friend Howie the Hedgehog. But after BOBcat discovered a hole in the fence, things got out of hand, and he plunged into a world of danger. Would he find his way back home?

The writing in this book is superb. It's clear and descriptive,  and written in rhyme. The amount of text on each page was kept to a minimum, making it an easy and ideal read for youngsters. There is also suspense and fast-paced action that will captivate young minds. The illustrations in this book are praiseworthy. They were large, vibrant, and very captivating to look at. BOBcat and spiky little Howie are adorable characters, and I have no doubt any young reader will like them. The story contains a valuable moral lesson for children: obedience. As what BOBcat initially thought would be exciting turns into a big scary misadventure, he has to accept that he made a mistake and should be more careful when making future choices. The book is ideal for reading aloud to younger children and can be finished in one sitting. Parents, caregivers, and teachers who wish to share a meaningful yet simple and fun story should check out Dana Popoff's BOBcat's Big Adventure.

BOBcat’s Big Adventure by Dana P Popoff reveals that BOBcat was a curious kitten who longed to go outside and explore the world he could see outside his window. After voicing his heart’s desire, Howie the hedgehog warned BOBcat about the dangers of leaving his home to discover the unknown. Against his friend’s advice, BOBcat sneaked out of the house and escaped through the fence. He wound up on an unexpected adventure that left him lost in the woods. Should BOBcat have listened to Howie and stayed home instead of getting out? Why would his humans have wanted him to stay in the house instead of going outside and would BOBcat ever find his way home again?

The story of BOBcat and his curiosity about nature will teach children that rules are in place for good reasons. I loved that the main character was adventurous while his friend was the voice of reason who wanted him to obey the rules their humans had for them. The illustrations by Alina Shabelnyk are colorful and will entertain children while they read along. I recommend BOBcat’s Big Adventure by Dana Popoff to young children that enjoy a fast-paced story that is both fun and educational. This tale could easily become a childhood favorite to be added to their list of “one mores” before bedtime. I hope that Popoff and Shabelnyk team up to create more adventurous stories about BOBcat that teach important lessons.

BOBcat’s Big Adventure is a children’s book by Dana P Popoff. BOBcat doesn’t understand why he can’t go outside and roam. His friend Howie, a hedgehog, reminds him that the humans who care for them have guidelines to keep them safe since they are small, and staying within certain parameters is part of their rules. BOBcat decides to go out anyway, and Howie follows him. Soon after venturing out, an unforeseen accident sends BOBcat gliding on the water away from his home. BOBcat finally escapes onto dry land, but he can’t see his home, so he begins to worry.

Dana P Popoff has captured a wonderful comparison in her story. BOBcat could be seen as an eager young child who craves adventure and has a penchant for breaking the rules. BOBcat’s missteps could be a strong lesson for children who consider dodging their rules and restrictions. BOBcat’s caregiver rescues him so readers won’t be upset. Bobcat could also be viewed as a mischief-maker, and Howie may be seen as the type of child who follows others. They know they are making mistakes, but after reading the book, those children may think twice before they follow troublemakers. Vibrant, delightful illustrations accompany the text, and the meter is well done. The story will delight younger children, and BOBcat’s Big Adventure would be a great addition to a child’s bookcase or a library shelf and is perfect for reading aloud.
